Lead Powertrain Machinery Drawing Management Database Application Specialist
Responsible for providing drawing management & tracking to the Powertrain Mfg. Engineering programs on new engine and/or transmission launches. Responsible for reviewing, receiving and data banking all machinery & equipment drawings and Bill of Materials into Powertrain Teamcenter Automotive Engineering database. Implemented common drawing process’s for 17 machining, assembly, and casting plants in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and China.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
Assign mechanical drawing numbers for new machinery and equipment drawings following standard procedures
Complete Drawing Requests received from Program Mfg. Engineers for machinery or assembly systems that will be re-tooled for a new program
Inform engineers on programs of the proper procedure to follow when requesting drawing for existing equipment.
Assist engineers with how to find and review drawings for machines in Teamcenter Engineering.
Review master drawings in Teamcenter Engineering
Identify on Drawing Request when major discrepancies exist within the drawing package
Perform check out of required drawings from Teamcenter Engineering
Review machinery & equipment drawings for compliance to GM Powertrain Drawing Specifications
Visually review drawings to determine if all required information is included.
Perform Validation of drawing using the latest version of the AutoCAD Validation CAD fx tool.
Visually review Excel Bill of Materials spreadsheet to determine that all required information is included.
Document non-compliant issues found for both drawings and Bill of Materials.
Communicate to both GM responsible engineer and supplier what is required to fix non-compliant issues.
Schedule supplier meetings to review drawing issues found during review process.
Visit supplier facilities with responsible engineers to review non-compliant issues that are found.
Review and instruct suppliers on GM Powertrain Drawing Specification requirements.
Instruct GM Responsible Engineers and suppliers on Final Documentation submission requirements.
Attend program status meetings
Provide all program engineers instruction on drawing management procedures to follow of the course of the program
Provide Teamcenter Engineering training to program engineers.
Train key plant personnel involved in the program as required to meet program timing.
Provide ongoing training and technical support to plant personnel as program is launched.
Load / migrate machinery & equipment and Bill of Materials into Teamcenter Engineering for new programs.
Verify drawings are loaded properly to Teamcenter after completing drawing or BOM load.
Perform BOM upload after all drawings and Bill of Materials files have been loaded to Teamcenter.
Maintain documentation tracking spreadsheets to reflect drawings and BOM received and loaded to Teamcenter database, or returned to supplier for rework.
