Appeal Point
If I could describe myself in one word, I would say I am a challenger. Whatever problem appears, instead of avoid it, I get straight to the point and put all efforts to come up with solutions. This is my strength: problem solving ability.
1. Personal Physical Challenge: By the time I decided to go to college in Japan, I weighed more than 100 kg. I knew that I should change my condition and lose weight and that if I could do so I would also gain confidence. Then, I made it my goal to get into shape and stay healthy through a rigorous diet and regular exercise. While I ran on the exercise treadmill, I visualized myself becoming thin, and I told myself I will burn all of the fat DNA in my body. I even made one treadmill break down. As a result, I succeeded in losing 30 kg in three months, and I have stayed in shape ever since. Moreover, the experience of success in changing myself has given me the motivation and confidence to overcome many unpredictable challenges in my life.
2. Financial Crisis: I faced challenges to pay the tuition fee when, in 2008, the Yen suddenly appreciated and Won depreciated. Instead of giving up and returning to Korea, I decided to take the risk of being removed from school for not paying the tuition fees by doing whatever I needed to do to win scholarships. I looked around to see what I could do to continue studying in Japan.
I started doing part time at school to earn living expenses. I became TA and SA and made desperate efforts to push myself, cutting back on hours of sleep and studying as hard as I could with the goal of receiving scholarships. As a result, I won the university's best academic award twice in a row, in the fall of 2009 and spring of 2010, and with the scholarship I was able to pay off tuition expenses. On top of that, from 2010 I have been selected as a Japanese government scholarship student.
Through these experiences, even if I face difficulties in unexpected circumstances when working on projects in the future, I will have the confidence to overcome these challenges because of my ability to be a problem-solver. I believe this strength can contribute to your company as it faces many challenges under rapidly changing global market.
