Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat (India) Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering Graduated May 2016 GPA: 8.81/10

KEY COURSES

Automobile engineering (Basic and Advanced course): Studied vehicle performance, Drive mechanism, design of gearbox, Vehicle dynamics, class project of designing a complete SUV including Chassis, Suspension, Powertrain, Steering system, Electrical system etc. Designed powertrain using MATLAB and Simulink, practical driving cycles were used for simulation. Dynamics of Machines: Topics include dynamic force analysis of mechanisms (graphical method and analytical method, Balancing, Governors and Gyroscopes. Machine design ( Basic and Advanced course ): Studied important design elements such as Power transmission belts, Gearbox, Hydrodynamic Journal bearing, Load lifting device, Pressure vessels. PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Senior Year Capstone Project:

Fabrication and Calibration of five hole probe, NIT Surat Team Leader Aug 2015 – May 2016

Five hole probe is used to find fluid flow velocity component in mutually perpendicular directions.

Pressure values at probe tip are observed by orienting the probe at different angles and in different directions.

The non-dimensional analysis is used to find coefficients.

MATLAB is used to generate plots and algebraic equations.

The open-jet wind tunnel was used as a known field for calibration purpose.

Application in: Internal Combustion engines, Turbomachinery.

Result: Probe with high temperature withstanding capability was made using SS 304 and cost reduced by a factor of 10.

Electric Hybrid Vehicle, NIT Surat Jan 2015 – Apr 2015 Project member

SAE BAJA vehicle was converted to Electric Hybrid vehicle.

Goal: To run the vehicle by an electric motor at low speeds and by the engine at high speeds. Thus, to improve efficiency. Efficiency improved by 3%.

Unique and simple power changing mechanism was used to change the source of power.

Worked on: Power changing mechanism, Dynamic analysis of vehicle.( at which speed gear should be changed, top speed, when to engage engine)

Software used: MATLAB.

Vehicle performance simulation, NIT Surat Sept 2014-Oct 2014 Self-initiated project

GM EV1 and Electric scooter were used for simulation.

Vehicle parameters like weight, motor specifications, battery characteristics were programmed and its performance was simulated when the vehicle is subjected to real world driving conditions.

Software used : MATLAB, Simulink.

Dedicated CNG engine technology, NIT Surat

Project member Nov 2013 – Oct 2014

Goal: To carry out a parametric study of Honda 118 cc Gasoline engine for CNG application.

Worked on: Simulation of engine processes and correlation of experimental data with simulated results.

Software used: MATLAB and C.

Result: Efficiency and power were improved by 15.83% and 4.92% after optimization. SKILLS

Engineering analysis – Ansys

Computer Aided Design and Drafting – Creo, Solidworks, Catia, AutoCAD

High level technical computing language – MATLAB

Programming language – C, Python

EXPERIENCE

Internship on Air powered vehicle, IIT Roorkee (India) May 2015 – July 2015 Research Intern

In-depth study of air powered vehicles from historical time to modern era.

Reviewed patents for pneumatic and pneumatic hybrid engines

Formulated 3 innovative ideas to improve engine efficiency: Double expansion, better throttling strategy and Recirculation of used air. One research paper under review in an international peer reviewed journal – Journal of Renewable Energy, Elsevier. SAE SUPRA 2015, Chennai (India) Nov 2014 – Apr 2015 Team player of Phoenix Racing

A Formula type race vehicle was designed and fabricated by a team of students.

Worked on Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA) of Chassis and fabrication. ANSYS was used for FEA.

Designed a complete chassis by a handsome Factor of Safety (FOS). Creo and Solidworks were used for Computed Aided Design (CAD). Catia was used for part designs like knuckle and A-arm. National Go-Kart Championship, Coimbatore (India) Aug 2014 – Oct 2014 Team player of Phoenix Racing

A Go-Kart vehicle was designed and fabricated according to rulebook of competition.

Worked on CAD and fabrication. Creo was used for CAD.

Obtained 2nd position in design round at national level.
