I am a National Diploma graduate in Engineering Metallurgy from the university of Johannesburg. I am quick to grasp new ideas and concepts, and to develop innovative and creative solutions to problems. Able to work well on own initiative and can demonstrate the high levels of motivation required to meet the tightest of deadlines. Even under significant pressure, possesses a strong ability to perform effectively.
• I am well versed in engineering
speech and can analyze and
interpret engineering data.
• I have an eye for size properties and
behavior of metallurgical
components.
• I have the desire for change, growth
and improvement which are some
underlying objectives of the
industry.
• Possesses excellent interpersonal
skills and the ability to communicate
and negotiate concisely and
articulately at all levels
Professional Experience
GCM
Supervisor at the Leaching section
-DR Congo-Lubumbashi - March 2007 to March 2010
Responsibilities
• I used to control the whole production of copper concentrate by froth flotation from feeding of copper ore into the crushers followed by size reduction through milling process until the actual production of concentrate.
• I used to Insure that the correct ore particles are fed into the jaw crushers.
• I used also to make sure that the right amount of reagents is used for separation of copper from the gangue materials into the flotation cell is efficient for the solvent extraction.
Prima industrial holdings
RSA, Johannesburg. From January 2014 to January 2016. Metallurgist and chemist
I have 2 years experience in the production of manganese steel, chrome-molly steel, low and high carbon steel using the Electrical Arc furnace. I also have the knowledge in the production of different type of cast irons such white, grey and ductile irons.
I have mastered the different Furnace operations to get the steel within specification:
-Furnace charging : That involves selecting the specific grade of steel scrap according to the grade of steel that needs to be made and Also taking into account the size and density for an optimum melting
-Melting: The steel scrap is melted using the electricity produces by the Electrical Arc Furnace by ensuring that light steel scrap are on top of the charge to accelerate bore-in until a pool of molten steel scrap is created in the furnace.
-Refining: the refining process involves the removal of Sulfur, Phosphorus, Carbon, Silicon, Manganese from the steel by processes such as Oxidation, Desulphurization, Dephosphorization.
De-slagging : Which involves Slag foaming operations.
-Tapping: which involves introduction of De-oxidiers to avoid oxidation during casting of the steel into the different moulds.
After completion of casting the furnace turn around is applied to inspect the refractories lining, the electrodes, the slag line, the tap-hole and the spout for maintenance.
Achievements:
• Implementation of new heat treatment timing, which was revealed to be more efficient than the previous heat treatment cycle hence increased the hardness of the chrome moly steel.
• Determination of the active clay needed to reach the required mold’s strength that enabled to save on bentonite consumption for the foundry.
Responsibilities:
• Supervising Sand tests and Metallurgical laboratories.
• Supervising the foundry in production of different type of steels.
• Monitoring the heat treatment on different steels to achieve required mechanical properties.
• Conduction of casting Inspection.
• Mechanical testing on the steel.
• Signing the inspection and export certificates.
• Scheduling the different heats production shifts.
• Reporting daily production to the Technical manager. Skills
