Network Operations Analyst III / Event Management Team

Member of US Bank’s Event Management Team. We were responsible for 24x7 Monitoring of US Bank Infrastructure across the country, including 3 Data Centers, 3200 retail branches as well as Corporate Locations and ATM’s. I performed analysis of application, system, and network events, while collaborating with other IT Staff within the NOC to develop solutions that ensure availability of production and on-line systems. EMT was responsible for ensuring SLA levels were met, by working with Telco vendors, as well as on site support groups ( Network Access products, Diebold, Compucomm and BlackBox) and ensuring branches experienced as little downtime as possible.

I also provided technical execution and analysis of operational requests. Provided support to Production Operations Services as well as acting as a liaison sbetween other technical organization teams. Tools used for monitoring and analysis of US Bank Infrastructure include Tivoli/Netcool, Gomez, Splunk, HPNA, Infoblox, DSView ( KVM Access to servers ), ITSM 9.3, Cisco Unity/Call Manager, CA Workload Control Center as well as a large number of proprietary tools developed by US BANK

Tier 2 support for network Infrastructure on the Xcel account with multiple locations in Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Texas and New Mexico. Proactive and re-active monitoring of UNIX, Windows (2000,2003,NT,XP) NMS and OS-390 servers. In 2005 I was selected from a group of peers to assist Toyota Corporation to move their NOC from Los Angeles to Phoenix. While on assignment for two months I learned their NOC’s operations and tools and wrote a training synopsis for new hires. In 2006, I was cross-trained on the Midrange computing platform which involved monitoring and high level administration of SUN Solaris, HP, NT, and Linux Servers.

Information Systems Engineer I

Work in a NOC (Network Operations Center) environment, proactively monitoring alarms and reactive troubleshooting for several major networks, and three smaller networks totaling approximately 10,000 nodes and 75,000 connections across all platforms.

Networks include VPS, Datakit/VCS, SNA, TCP/IP networks, AI (CO-LAN) STM (SONET). This is accomplished by the handling of problem tickets generated from the Tier 1 help desk, proactive monitoring of alarms, and working with the Local Support Services, OCS technicians, central office technicians, and business and government testers to repair trouble.

Monitoring and repair on networks include:

Datakit network with multiple rs-232 connections to every central office and switch in former US West territory; use of Starkeeper and Netcon 90 to isolate and repair problems; outage management and resolution; working with BGS and OCS technicians on repair issues.

SNA network, using Netview to monitor and repair problems with terminals and printers; using VPS for printers that work on TCP/IP to SNA communication; working with LSS and technicians to repair trouble tickets.

Proactive TCP/IP network monitoring of router interfaces and routers for internal clients--this includes green dollar customers on the DEX network; troubleshooting and monitoring of large AI network. This includes bouncing Smart Link Cards, dumb cards, troubleshooting, and repair of network outages as well as proactive monitoring of STM (SONET) network.

Operational knowledge of IEEE802 standards, Cisco routers/switches, AI switches and cards, CSU/DSUs, analog modems, NMS and GDC modems, Datakit nodes, multiplexers and switches (DMS/5E/X.25/1A), and STM nodes.

Assigned to Tank Battalion During Operations Desert Storm/Shield. Primary function was to provide grid coordinates to Commanding officers tank utilizing GPS. During periods of non-movement I cross trained as a radio-operator and wiremen, also nominated for meritorious field promotion.

*Post Persian Gulf Service: I was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the South West Asia Liberation Medal.
