Responsible for the coordination of the employee health and welfare plans company-wide. Benefit programs include the following: Medical/dental/vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, FSA, 401(k), Life insurance and AD&D. Includes enrolling new employees, terminating coverage of exiting employees, paying monthly benefit bills, and resolving and answering benefit questions from employees.

•Assist in the management of the benefit plan renewal process.

•Conduct industry benefit benchmarking from available resources and counter parts in the industry

•Examine possible plan design or benefit cost changes.

•Completes yearly 401K audit with HR Manager guidance

•Responsible for working closely with benefits broker firm

Employee Relations

•Onboarding of all new hires – paperwork, drug screening, background checks, etc.

•Responsible for the maintenance of employee personnel files and compliance with federal regulations

•Conducts new hire orientations.

•Conducts exit interviews and processes paperwork for terminating employees.

•Works closely with Payroll department to ensure new hires and terminations are completed correctly

Communication

•Works closely with Payroll to ensure all required documents are received in a timely manner.

•Assists Department with projects, training and annual open enrollment.

•Serves on the Joy Companies Benefits Plan Committee.

•Assists with coordination of company events to include, annual crab feast, annual turkey distribution, company picnic, holiday celebrations, etc.

•Performs other duties as required and assigned.

External Partners

•Serve as contact for HR Department for all external inquiries – employment verifications, new businesses, randoms, digitization, unemployment claims, etc.

•Ensures compliance with federal regulations, contacting necessary

•Works closely with vendors on requested information

Reporting

•Maintains information in ViewPoint and compiles management reports from database as needed.

•Assists with yearly filings to include EEO-1, Vets 100, and 5500.

•Creates necessary spreadsheets for department reporting

Human Resource Specialist (Recruiting) – Humane society of the U.S. (Non Profit)
