Oversaw all supply chain operations including vendor sourcing, supply agreements, purchasing and logistics for both domestic and international vendor base. Oversaw and directed warehouse order points for multiple national warehouse operations.
Recruited to overcome global distribution and logistical issues that were cutting into company profits. Spearheaded North American and Far East supply chain operations, covering procurement, contract manufacturing management, import/export, trucking/rail/ocean/air contracts, inventory planning and forecasting, domestic operations, distribution and customer delivery.
Improved Import operations by development of DC direct shipping via China based warehouse operations that consolidated vendor freight maximizing container efficiencies and reducing lead times and cost. Created lead logistics supplier concept and selected global partner. Negotiated and executed direct steamship contracts to overcome industry wide constant price increases. Current contract renewals show and estimated $1M savings in ocean costs year over year based on current volumne forecasts. Negotiated 3rd party warehouse agreement with Ningbo China warehouse to collect and consolidate vendor shipments for support of the direct container program. Negotiated with key supplier to create VMI warehouse in South China to consolidate additional shipments for USA stocking program.
Created and managed Quality control processes with Asian based sourcing team to monitor and track required product testing. Created Vendor corrective action reports, and processes to manage change. Turned around DC facility in three months by implementing LEAN and 5S principals that improved on-time shipping from 70% to 99% and reduced turnover 50% and lost time incidents 40%.
Orchestrated Asian manufacturing outsourcing plan that increased turns 70% and saved $11M in working capital.
Reduced time-in-transit by developing a CT-PAT program that exceeded US Customs and Homeland Security requirements. Acquired Tier 3 (highest) status, designating Sunrise as a trusted importer by US Customs.
