Professional Highlights

President/Chief Executive Officer – Engineering & Design Concepts, Inc. 1998-present Founded an engineering company with boot strap financing and grew the company to over $1M in sales. Assembled and managed a multi-disciplined engineering team comprised of mechanical, electrical and software engineering expertise as well as a manufacturing facility to support product and equipment development. Created a highly customer centric culture which allowed for a high customer retention rate. Responsible for engineering, sales, marketing, contracts, proposals, finance, accounting and overall P&L. Created and developed products/equipment for GE, Lockheed Martin, Johnson & Johnson, L-3 Communications, Boston Scientific, Becton Dickinson, Saint Gobain, Excelis-ITT, Actuant, Pentax Medical, Kansas City Chiefs and many others.

Design/Develop/Fabrication Project Examples:

F22 Hydraulic Actuator Test Equipment which tested and evaluated landing gear and ancillary door actuators. Project involved contracting with 2 major government contractors, installation of equipment at a government facility and training personnel. Nuclear Reactor Pressure Vessels (RPV) equipment. Most of the US commercial nuclear plants have EDC fabricated equipment in use. One of the systems, a Self Contained Tensioner (SCT), is used to remove/install the bolts of a nuclear RPV. Using new innovative technology, the new SCT drastically reduced the reactor down time, required less manpower resources and saved

$50k in the first outage using the prototype.

Automated Bascule Bridge Balancing application which analyzed bridge loading and reported the corrected weight redistribution. Application designed in LabVIEW used a wireless sensor network to measure the strain and angle of the bascule bridge shaft. Hydraulic Wrench Test Station which simulated break away and installation bolting torque. Used to calibrate and evaluate hydraulic torque tools up to 10,000 Ft-lbs. Solar Panel Inverter Environmental Stress Screening Test Equipment used to test all of the utility pole mounted solar panels in NJ. The equipment tested the power inverters wireless Smart Grid Technology, grid tie, power efficiency, etc...

High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) Actuator Test Station. Hydraulic powered test station was delivered and installed at Letterkenny Army Deport. These efforts led to GE team members receiving the presidents’ award from Lockheed Martin. 1 West Parkway

Edward Reitz LinkedIn Profile www.linkedin.com/pub/edward-reitz/11/699/854/ Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System (APKWS) Test Station. The precision laser guided rocket actuator controller boards are tested using technology designed by EDC. Industrial Pipe Welding Systems that seamlessly welds PVDF and polypropylene internally and externally using a patented internal bladder. The fastest industrial welding system of its kind developed for a French multinational corporation. The internal smooth bore eliminates the possibility of particle entrapment.

R&D Engineer – Cordis Corporation, A Johnson & Johnson Company 1996-1998 Developed cardiovascular stents and stent manufacturing equipment. Successfully worked on process improvements in areas such as laser cutting, electro-polishing and automated vision inspection. Successful implementation of automated vision systems significantly reduced product inspection time and increased the profit margin.

Senior Engineer – Kearfott Guidance & Navigation 1990-1996 Designed and developed test equipment for inertial navigation units, inertial measure units, mechanical and ring laser gyroscopes. Introduced and integrated paperless CAM manufacturing techniques as a special project to the COO which improved time to market and reduced production costs. Successfully adapted a Mobil Azimuth Positioning System Fixture for the Norwegian army that determines accurate position and direction for wheeled and armored vehicles without the restraints of extensive battlefield survey and weather limitations. Conducted Finite Element Analysis on navigation system models to determine resonant frequencies, displacements and stress points on the structure and circuit board assemblies.
