EDUCATION:
CRA (2012) (Clinical Research Associate Certified), Clinproxy Research Services, Nevada, USA. Ph.D. (2001, December) Biochemistry, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, INDIA. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Center of Applied Research and Nanotechnology, SIT, (Affiliated Visvesvaraya Technological University), India
Supervision of both the lectures and laboratories of a number of advanced level M. Tech classes in the area of Nano-biotechnology.
Completed several research proposals on Nano medicine for Alzheimer’s’ Disease Research and applied for external grants. Delivered lectures to groups of M. Tech students using advanced Nano- biotechnology techniques. Inspired and motivated them for higher level of qualifications. Prepared learning materials for Nano-biotechnology courses and relevant practical activities. I was also involved in the research and designing new courses and materials. Hospital for Sick kids, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada The project was Proteomics in Rat Stroke. My work was to study the function of the stroke proteins
(MMPs) with drug t-PA and to use different inhibitors to minimize their danger at stroke stage. Tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) is the only drug approved for stroke treatment. University of Guelph, Guelph, Canada
The project of my work was to find out the Actin activation of Myosin ATPase in presence of Doxorubicin drug and to compare the same without the drug in various contractile systems. Doxorubicin is one of the most effective drugs for cancer chemotherapy but the clinical use of doxorubicin has been greatly limited because of severe toxic side effects, which cause several human cardiac failures. The experiments were done on various contractile systems obtained from cardiac muscles of bovine, pig, lamb, mice etc. Structural Genomics Center (SGC), University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada At SGC, I targeted the human hect family proteins for structural biology study. There are 24 members with a conserved, carboxy-terminal hect domain; each protein with varying protein-protein or protein- lipid interaction domains at the amino-termini. Multiple constructs of each domain were cloned into appropriate vectors. I used High-throughput system, HPLC and LC techniques for protein purification and identification.
National Institutes of Health (NIH), NIAMS, Maryland, USA At the NIH, I worked with skin cancer proteins Human Lipoxygenase, Glucocorticoid Receptor, LXR, FXR and Human Transglutaminase 5. Proteins were expressed and purified by HPLC, LC and different chromatography columns. Purified proteins were crystallized and solved by standard protein crystallography software.
Harvard Institute of Medicine, Boston, USA
At the Harvard Institute of Medicine, I cloned several signal transduction proteins into different expression vectors. I used different cell culture techniques (batch, fed-batch and CSTR) for protein expression. The proteins were over-expressed, solubility tests were conducted and purified by HPLC, LC systems.
