1997-2008 University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology. Responsibilities as Program Coordinator included: design, print and distribute the UAB Minority Health International Research Training Program brochure and application materials; organize recruitment activities; process applications; communicate with potential trainees; coordinate selection process; manage payroll and expenses and maintain budget balance of grant; coordinate federal reports according to requirements; coordinate all logistical and administrative support for trainees; organize orientation and departure of all trainees; and communicate with foreign mentors and trainees in the field. Responsibilities of Office Administrative Assistant included administrative support for three professors such as typing, filing, copying, filing for reimbursements, creating Power Point presentations for class lectures, and calculating and posting student grades. Reason for leaving: Restructuring of department eliminated position.
1987-1997 RUST Environment & Infrastructure (name changed in 1991 from RUST International). Responsibilities (1987-1989) were secretarial in nature such as typing, filing, multi-line telephone operation, facsimile machine operation, etc. Responsibilities as an engineering technician (1990-1997) included technical duties such as site visits, data collection and reduction, technical writing, air dispersion modeling, permit application preparation, environmental compliance analysis, toxic release inventory and reporting (EPA software), hazardous waste characterization, emission inventory, and reviewing new software and producing instructions for other staff members. Reason for leaving: Birmingham office closed February 1997.
1984-1986 Dr. William B. Strickland. Responsibilities included dental assistant and laboratory technician duties. Reasons for leaving: Reduction in forces. 1980-1981 Southern Company Services. Responsibilities included board drafting for HVAC design drawings for nuclear power plants. Reason for leaving: To stay at home with my young child.
COMPUTER SOFTWARE
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Publisher, and with EPA-approved dispersion models and the meteorological data preprocessing software that accompanies them. Some experience with QuickBooks, I am also familiar with several EPA-approved software applications for Title III and V reporting.
