Job Responsibilities: As an EMT-I for Kabul Embassy Security Forces (KESF)at the US Embassy in Kabul Afghanistan, I am involved in two patrols a day; to and from the embassy in a high threat area. Changing vehicles every day I have been assigned as the medic in lead vehicle, numerous emergency response vehicles, and the main CASEVAC vehicle for embassy security convoys I am a part of the first line of protection for convoy and entire embassy. While on the embassy I provide security and ensuring safety to all Ambassadors along with their family, high ranking officers Generals/Admirals, Official Department of state personal, Governors, Movie Stars, visitors, local nationals, and other security and support staff. During Ambassador meetings and special events, I am strategically staged to provide immediate medical/tactical support to the Ambassador along with VIPs. I have been a part of numerous events put on by the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. Ensuring safety of Ambassador to and from Ambassador’s quarters and Event. Being a part of the first line defense: I patrol on foot armed with M-4, M-9, and medical/ trauma kit. I ensure day to day security functions are done safely, provide basic and advanced health care services/moral support to entire embassy, and preform medical checks on all personnel and all high threat security posts. I have responded to many traumatic situations, where we have had to tactically move to LZ to life flight injured personnel off the embassy. I have also been a part of many medical calls for emergent cardiac situations, chemical situations, repertory issues and more to where we would also have to tactically move off the embassy to LZ. I provide TCCC/first responder classes to embassy support staff and Emergency Response Teams. I provided hands on Medical training (tourniquets, airway interventions, chest seals, Needle Ds, Hemostatic agents, bandaging, splinting, and movement from the X to CCP, and from CCP to LZ, to Embassy personal that followed TCCC (Fire superiority, MARCH, Various movements off X to CCP) protocols, along with scenario training to ERT teams, PSD teams, First responders, Paramedics, Embassy Health Unit, and Military personnel. I help certify First responders and attend all training for Embassy First responders. Ensuring MASCAL treatment areas are organized, and first responders and medical personnel are efficient with equipment and treatment areas.

(Job Responsibilities Cont.): As an EMT-I/Paramedic stationed on Clinic duties on Camp in Kabul Afghanistan, I am involved in the day-to-day operations of the Medical Clinic. I maintain all medical records for accuracy. I maintain a current and up to date list of all medical certifications and expiration dates for all EMT’s assigned to KESF. On a daily basis I will assess/evaluate patients entering the clinic and treat accordingly. These patients routinely have a range of conditions from dysentery to the common cold. I also preform and read x-rays for extremity fractures and chest x-rays for pneumonia. I have been trained and become proficient in suturing techniques and stapling lacerations. I am fully trained and capable of recognizing and responding to cardiac and respiratory emergencies. In the event of a MASCAL event I participate in the triaging and treatment of all patients. My primary role during a MASCAL is that of the Evacuation Officer. In this role I will categorize patients according to their priority, move and stage patients at a designated LZ and liaise with the incoming SAR Medic to prioritize the loading patients for Medical Evacuation.

Interests and Activities

I enjoy staying active. I spend as much time as possible with my family. I do try to get out and golf whenever time permits. Above all, just try to enjoy life with the people I am around.

Volunteer Experience

I have been a member of the McDowell County Rescue Squad since 2008, I am also one of their part time employees on an as needed basis. I have been a member of the McDowell County Wilderness Team since 2009. I am on the Dive Team with the Rescue Squad. I was a member of McDowell EMS Special Operations Team. I was also the Safety Officer for McDowell County’s Incident Management Team.

Computer Skills
