Project Manager, Implementation Lead and Standardized Work Subject Matter Expert for the Gates Corporation lean implementation for the pilot plant (Ashe County, NC) and the “flagship” plant (Siloam Springs, AR. 4 Focus Factories with 44 work cells) focusing on a Toyota Production System based lean model.

The pilot plant improved productivity 19% in the first year with comparable results at the flagship facility. Additionally the flagship facility gained a cost avoidance of $350k allocated for new equipment and eliminated cord treating overtime through the TPM program by increasing equipment availability / reliability while subsequently adding production capacity increasing saleable product revenue stream. Project Manager and Implementation Lead for the Topcon Positioning Systems Lean initiative “Topcon Production System” Livermore, CA. Also served as Interim VP of Operations / Production Manager / Warehouse Manager in addition to implementation lead on contract basis to support organizational restructuring.

The introduction of Lean concepts increased production / shipping output from $10m-$12m per month to $16m-$18m per month and was achieved while reducing premium labor (overtime) by 20%. St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Houston, TX served as Project Manager and Implementation Lead within the Central Sterile Process Department (CSPD) (serving 48 ORs):

Reduced filling an order in the main supply room from an average of ten minutes to a target of six minutes

In “assembly” (after sterilization) the current state had a cycle time of 16 minutes which was reduced to 12 minutes.

Using Lean tools such as 5S, standardization work, spaghetti diagrams, and visual management, the planned effort saved CSPD $1.3 million per year
