Unlimited Solutions Inc. received a contract for a pilot program with Detroit Public Schools to install this in two high schools.

They ran into a problem with the project management, which resulted in contracting me to oversee the project

Data Processing Manager/Systems Administrator

In a UNIX (AIX) environment with a Novell, network TCP/IP with over 125 users national in nine locations connected with leased lines.

System Administration of the day-to-day activities including:

Ordered new equipment and software installed as needed

Wrote all user-requested reports of a special nature

Wrote script files to do end of month processes

Generated mailing labels for each locations sales department with the using FoxPro

Security issues I was able to correct in the short time contracted:

Modified contact manager so sales managers at each location could only change files that they are to manage, written in COBOL

Wrote menu system to include an operator class, so temporary operators had limited access to system, in COBOL.

Modified profiles so individuals logged in would only be able to see/run their applications approved per job title.

Changed the remote station to monitor sales staff login to only allow authorized sign-in

Wrote modifications to sales tracking system in progress, and support C programs on a number of UNIX (SCO) and MSDOS based systems. Wrote custom terminal emulators for UNIX and WordPerfect to operate with the communication packages being used. Custom configured UNIX (SCO) or MSDOS systems to fit customer needs of a new system. Advised customers of system expansions needed when adding workstations or software to pre-existing systems. Ordered equipment from wholesales as needed for customer expansions and new installations.
