EnglishTown is an online English language education program that serves adult learners from over 120 countries. This program is designed to teach students English via the Adobe Classroom online platform. The students enrolled in this program are professional adults from around the world. The classes are either one to one or in a small group of up to 6 students. My responsibilities include teaching and designing ESL lessons, assessing student progress and proficiency, providing feedback to the students and administering oral placement tests.

The US Dream Academy is an after school program that works to address the needs of children at significant risk of incarceration. My duties included working closely with the Directors and school district personnel to oversee daily program operations. Developing and implementing guidelines and policies with the purpose of ensuring compliance with all government regulations, as well as maintaining alignment with the organization's mission. Creating and delivering the daily curriculum which encompasses the Dream Academy's three core elements of student enrichment; skill-building, character-building and dream-building. Managing the collection and analysis of data gathered from various sources to evaluate the program as it is implemented and to inform improvements in the program over time. Analyzing data to help inform and make performance management decisions based upon the student’s needs. As well as, managing the development, design and implementation of new projects. I resigned from this position to stay home with my newborn daughter.

Reading Technical Assistant Specialist, UT Systems Administration 1/10 – 9/11

I worked on the Texas Reading First grant. During this grant I worked with the Houston Independent School District to reading comprehension instructional practices. This goal was accomplished by delivering professional development sessions covering six comprehension strategies. The strategies were Reading with Purpose, Think-Turn-Talk, Cognitive Strategy Routine, Creating Mental Images, Making Inferences & Predictions, and Determining Importance & Summarizing Expository Text. I also worked with individual teachers to increase skill in instructional best practices. I did this by demonstrating routines and strategies in K-3 classrooms and participating in side-by-side teaching with the campus reading coach. I also provided observational feedback on coach and teacher lessons. The grant for this position ended.

Special Education Teacher, Clark County School District 8/04 – 11/09

In this position I provided direct instruction in all core subject areas to self-contained kindergarten students and middle school Autism students. Developed and implemented individualized education programs for each special education student, identified and implemented goals tailored to the students’ individual needs and abilities. As well as coordinated with parents, teachers, teacher assistants and various service providers that include speech, occupational, and physical therapist for students with Mental Impairment, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, developmental delays, speech impairment or learning disability in resource, self-contained and general education classrooms. I resigned from this position to move to Houston, TX.

I worked closely with the general public, Assistant Attorney Generals, and other government agencies to ensure the collection of child support for children in Foster Care. I effectively organized the filling of legal pleadings, located absent parents, while maintaining accurate records. I resigned from this position to begin my teaching career

Office Manager, The Patrice House 6/99 - 10/99

I worked closely with the house director to ensure the care of the children in the emergency foster care facility. I coordinated services with the local Child Protective Services agency, Medical Doctors and psychologists to ensure the care of the children. I also transported the children to family visits, doctor appointments and meetings with caseworkers. As well as planned lessons and activities, according to the learning styles of the children.. I resigned from this company for a full time position.
