WORK EXPERIENCE

HMI CARDINAL: Chief Operating Officer (Louisville, KY) – April 2015 – Jan. 2016

Full management responsibilities directing day-to-day operations overseeing effectiveness of all processes both internal and external for one 160,000 sf. ft manufacturing facility and six distribution centers nationwide. Responsible for coordinating manufacturing efforts of shower doors involving: quality control, manpower efficiency, cost saving and meeting daily production goals. Supervised over 200 employees with staffing, training, scheduling and performance evaluation responsibilities. Led multiple processes and workflow improvement initiatives including the development and implementation of cost saving programs. Collaborated with 8 direct department managers in order to streamline production process. Stayed abreast with industry trends, resulting in enhanced productivity and industry leadership.

Major Accomplishments:

Increased net income from a negative ($570,000) in May of 2015 to a positive $150,000 in December of 2015

Reduced scrap rate from 630 tons in April 2015 to below 300 tons as of January 2016 by implementing lean techniques such as Kaizen, Judoka with a blend of Six Sigma in a job shop production.

With the implementation of various lean techniques lowered our internal reworks from an average of 50% to a range of 26-30% thus creating our Standard Operating Procedures.

Implementation of lean manufacturing techniques reduced our workforce by 22%, which created a new culture of improved employee morale, job security, cost savings that improved our bottom line.

Initiated the implementation of technology-based program to increase overall efficiency by tracking production flow and by identifying and correcting production bottlenecks facilitated target revenue from $100 million to reach $150 million in the next 2-4 years that will maintain efficiency.

HMI CARDINAL: Operations Manager/National Branch Coordinator (Boston, MA) – Sept. 2013 – April 2015

Due to the success rate of the Boston, MA location, I was promoted to the National Branch Coordinator position. Fully responsible for providing direction and guidance to center managers in our other 6 locations across the U.S. Developed operations managers to be effective with office and shop policies and procedures and improve efficiencies, culture, employee development and production flow using lean principles such as 5s. This role was a liaison between senior managers and distribution centers in regards to any quality and logistical issues.

Major Accomplishments:

Arlington, TX – Successfully streamlined our production schedule from our main manufacturing facility that improved our customer lead times and efficiently reduced our costs in excess delivery routes. Implemented lean techniques such as 5s in our shop environment that increased our production flow while lowering our labor costs in hours worked by 25%. Coached and mentored both operations manager and shop foreman in P&L, employee development, continuous improvement methods and above all a positive and safe environment. After 4 months of consulting for this location, productivity and efficiencies increased by 25% resulting positive growth for the bottom line.

Livermore, CA – Successfully changed the culture from a negative single minded location to one of positive that promoted employee development, accountability that resulted in superior customer service and increased profitability. Initiated 5s techniques in both office and shop environment that increase lead times, reduced inefficiencies and provided a clean and safe environment. Coached and mentored both operations manager and shop foreman in P&L, employee development, continuous improvement methods that allowed more capacity in a growing market. Within 6 months, the foreman was promoted to operations manager and has grown the operation 15% in revenue.

Sparks, NV – Struggling operation in a region that could be better serviced from our Livermore, CA location. After reviewing this location, it was decided to close down and relocate the operation to Spokane, WA to better serve the customers in Northwest region. In July of 2015, it was my responsibility to assemble a team and oversee the operation relocation project. This project was successfully completed on time and within budget.

HMI CARDINAL: Operations Manager (Boston, MA) – Oct. 2007 – April 2015

Relocated to Boston, MA to transform an underperforming operation for HMI Cardinal. Managed all aspects of center operations in both office and shop that included hiring office, shop and sales force, training in all areas of center employees, sales management, center growth and expansion for the leading shower door manufacturer in the country. Ensured accuracy to meet production standards and above all superior customer service.

Major Accomplishments:

Grew the location from 8800 sf. to 18,500 sf. facility that expanded the workforce from 4 employees to 20 employees to accommodate our rapid growth and support our new product lines.

Expanded our territory from Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island to include Vermont, Upstate New York, Long Island, Connecticut and Northern New Jersey.

Expanded our fleet service from 1 van to 5-26’ straight trucks and 1 van.

Maintained the lowest error rate of all 7 centers across the country.

Increased sales from $1.3 million in 2007 to over $8 million at the end of 2014

Developed employees to ensure viability after promotion to Chief Operating Officer.
