As of October 2015 Hill Homes, Inc. will have celebrated our 23rd year of business in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Sadly, we have not been able to overcome the recession of 2008 as well as hoped. Now, it may be time for me to share my knowledge and experience(s) with a company that will appreciate a leader looking for a team. Being self employed and working directly with the home buyer as I have gives me an understanding of what an employer or even new home buyers are looking for and expect.
As a Home Builder with over 35 years of experience, I am the most qualified person for most any position including but not limited to general contractor, general manager, project manager, supervisor, estimating or consultations. There may be other positions available that relate to new home construction and/or renovations that would make me an essential part of your team.
From 1997–2002 we were involved with the Richmond Parade of Homes. We won over 20 awards. This was a great experience. I stopped participating only because these deadlines often disrupted other closings and customer service. I was looked at by the other builders as a leader due to my ability to manage all of my sites myself and insure quality construction. When I see past homeowners, we do not just shake hands, we hug. I love what I do and I love meeting people. Building lasting relationships is very important to me.

I worked summers and after school basically cutting grass, sweeping out homes and moving building materials from job to job. One day I may go help the roofers or on another day I may be helping the concrete finisher.

Communication:
After being a Builder for as long as I have, communication is a key. Speaking or writing I am the best person to act as a connection between different personality types. I am at ease and very comfortable communicating with superiors, staff, business partners and most important the customer.
Leadership:
I am able to motivate and inspire others while keeping the long term strategic goals in focus.
Responsibility:
I am accustomed to be in positions of responsibility. The “Buck” has always stopped here. I am relaxed dealing with building inspectors, lawyers, engineers and homeowners.
Organization:
From building permit to closing, I have done it all. I know time is money. I have great satisfaction in how efficiently my homes were produced. There was rarely a time that production stopped. Communication and staying steps ahead of the sub-contractors is a talent that comes naturally to me. I am good at it and I take pride in this ability. My jobs are checked several times daily by myself and not by superintendents. Doing this myself insures that there are no mistakes that may be overlooked by some. My company logo states “Experience, Quality & Commitment”. I live with this motto, it is instilled within me and I will bring it to your organization as well.
Problem solving:
With any construction project there are problems that may arise. Un-foreseen issues are natural to this business. The experience I have gained over the years has prepared me to deal with these issues. Rather they be with homeowners, building inspectors or fellow employees, I have always found ways to keep everyone focused on the ultimate goal.

We have had two excellent experiences with Mark Hill (Hill Homes, Inc.). Mark built our home in 2006. We have been very pleased with the service, the quality of the workmanship, and the direct involvement he had in the work. Most of our neighbors (also with newly constructed homes by other builders) have had so many issues to resolve with their builders. That was definitely not our experience. There were very few touch-ups needed, and Mark was always very quick to respond. On one occasion when Verizon had questions about how to connect phone service, we called Mark directly (early Saturday morning) and he was able to resolve the issue within just a few minutes.
Now that we have been in our house for more than 8 years we have come to appreciate how well built our home is. We have also recently asked Mark to help us with an addition to our home. He provided the design plans, obtained the construction permits, and is now nearly complete. The addition has gone very smoothly, and most importantly is on schedule! His crews and subcontractors have all been very responsive, respectful and professional. We would definitely buy another Hill Home, and would feel very comfortable recommending him to a close friend.

We moved into our newly built home in July 2013. After determining that Bayhill Pointe was where we wanted to build, we chose a model that was built by Mark Hill. At this point, we did not know who Mark Hill was since we were moving from out of town. Our agent strongly recommended him and spoke highly of his workmanship. Having been earlier associated with home construction; I wanted to see one of his homes that was in the early stages of construction. After thoroughly inspecting it, I was very pleased with his style of construction and the many "little" things he did that improved the quality of the home.
From the day we submitted the contract through move-in, we had a very pleasant and productive experience. Mark and the agent were constantly in touch with us as the construction progressed. Anytime during construction we wanted to make timely minor changes, Mark was always agreeable. Also, even after move-in, he has quickly responded to any items that needed attention.
All in all, we have been very pleased that Mark was our contractor and that he built such a high quality home. In addition to being our contractor, we often refer to him as our friend who is welcomed anytime in our home. We would highly recommend Hill Homes to anyone who wants to build a quality home. We came to know Mark as a very conscientious and hard-working person. So when it came time for us to build a new house, knowing that Mark was a builder, we knew we found our guy. We actually found the plan for our house during a party at his house, while browsing through some of the magazines he had laying around. Even though Mark had never built this house, he agreed to do it. I’m not a builder, but I do know that tackling something as big as building a house, one that you’ve never built before, is going to entail a lot of homework before you even get started.
Mark built a great house! After 17 years in it, we are still very proud of it. We had very few problems when we moved in, and for the minor ones that we did have, Mark was very responsive and fixed them in a timely manner. The craftsmanship and the attention to detail is apparent throughout the house. From the crown and chair molding in the dining room and kitchen to the soaring brickwork of the fireplace in our 2 story great room, all of the work was done professionally and has passed the test of time. We have asked Mark back to do additional work on the house, most recently to refinish the front porch and build the framework of a large deck.
We would recommend a Hill Home to anyone looking to build, knowing they would be getting a great builder and a quality home.
