The previous application utilized Sybase as a back end and the new one utilized SQL 2000.

CONTRACT PROGRAMMER FOR SAIC/ENTERGY
I was involved with many projects at Entergy, all of which required research, detailed planning, customer approval and involvement with the customer, and assistance in developing test procedures.
Market Mechanics Project –
System Architecture Manager
My responsibilities included overseeing the flow of data from Entergy’s legacy systems through EAI Websphere servers to a dedicated FTP server which was outside of the firewall. I coordinated efforts from the data center which included data security, firewall security, various user ID’s and permissions. I also coordinated the scheduling of all automated processes associated with this project. I created Perl & UNIX shell scripts for data transfer (automated ftp processes), file encryption (PGP software), system logging processes, automatically generated emails to appropriate parties, etc. etc. etc. Oracle databases were used in this project
Market Mechanics Failover server project – Modified Perl scripts for redundant file transfer. This was required because the servers resided in separate locations utilizing different internet service providers.
Internet Billing Project – Designed Perl scripts & UNIX scripts for file transfer and encryption for Entergy’s Internet Billing. These scripts resided on an NT and performed a few additional tasks which include the import & export of data to & from an Oracle database, and the parsing & restructuring of an XML file.
Project Management/Change Management Software
Designed the software specifications and developed VBScript Code for MS Outlook/Exchange server that incorporates MAPI, ActiveX and OLE DB technologies, with MS Access as a backend database. Some HTML was used as well. Visual Interdev was utilized for debugging purposes. This application utilized the custom modified form pages in Outlook and the user created fields for issues and assumptions tracking application. The exchange server is effectively used as a database that maintains the fields associated with the issues. Time and event driven email notifications are sent to various users that contain hyperlinks to the issues. MS Word document letters are also attached to the emails. These Word document letters are automatically created from the user-defined fields through ActiveX controls and attached to the emails as a MAPI object. The hyperlink directs the user to the issue, which is in an outlook public folder. The outlook address book provides the business address of the letter addressee using MAPI technology. The reports for this application were originally written in Access and run from Outlook through ActiveX controls. I developed an interface to run the Crystal reports on a web server as well as several prototype reports.

Developed Visual Basic and C++ interface to Crystal Reports for a client/server application that employs 15 different servers. This interface incorporates ADO, ActiveX, COM and OOP technologies. Created many Crystal reports for a large application that is distributed to over 6000 users. I also developed complex template Crystal reports for their developers to model all other reports for this application. Their environment multiple server/ multiple database SQL 7.0 on Windows NT.
