U.S. STEEL 1990–2016

Division Manager Maintenance Services and Utilities (2012–2016)

Managed operations and Maintenance of all utilities for an integrated steel plant, including boiler/power house facility for high voltage power generation and distribution as well as operations and maintenance of central water treatment facility for steam and high velocity air generation. Worked in collaboration with corporate maintenance reliability team with 400 wage and 25 salaried employees. Accountable for mobile equipment repair, air conditioning repair, air compressor maintenance, water treatment, scale calibration and repair, railroad track maintenance, and mechanical and electrical bull gangs to support plant repairs. Championed core value of Safety First, ensuring safety procedures were developed and followed, along with maintaining world class physical conditions including 5S standards. Developed new and revised current standard operating practices, policies and procedures while maintaining an atmosphere of cooperative effort between management and non-management employees. Trained managers, providing opportunity to advance to full potential.

During the first year in position, tasked to save $20M in contractor costs. Result: Within 10 months led team to save $50M+ by rallying hourly work force and completing jobs in house.

By following condition based maintenance program and employing philosophy of reliability centered maintenance, team was able to reduce downtime by 10% over six-month time period.

Steel Auxiliary Maintenance Coordinator (2003–2007)

Responsible for operating and maintenance at both BOP and QBOP gas cleaners, and maintenance at LMF and Degasser areas. Also accountable for updating business plans, coordinating outages, and operating within environmental and OSHA guidelines. Focused on reliability issues at gas cleaners, various upgrades at LMF/ Degasser areas and gas cleaning areas.

Maintenance Coordinator (2000–2004)

Responsible for all maintenance and maintenance personnel of B.O.P, and accountable for updating business plans, coordinating outages, and operating within environmental and OSHA guidelines. Managed nine supervisory and 100+ hourly employees. Filled in for Area Manager of Steel Maintenance in absence.
