Academic Projects
HVAC system design of a Residential Building
Designed and Budgeted the HVAC system of a building.
Identified zones that are to be controlled independently and calculated heating and cooling loads for each zone.
Selected the equipment based on heating and cooling load capacities of the zones.
Successfully interpreted the design to identify flaws and inconsistencies using AutoCAD.
Successfully sized the ducts based on friction rates to provide required CFM using equal-friction method. Achieved the velocity and temperature distributions on the duct work to provide economic design.
Chemical Migration through Overburden in Hydrofracking Technology (Shale Gas Fracking)
Designed and simulated the geometrical stratigraphies of Marcellus, Bowland and Bakken Shale Gas formations.
Designs successfully helped in obtaining the velocity and dynamic pressure ranges of various chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing technique.
Succeeded in determining if the chemicals can reach the ground water aquifers in each geometrical stratigraphy.
Design Analysis and Optimization of a Connecting Rod in Internal Combustion Engines
Designed and simulated the connecting rod of a two wheeler I.C. Engine (Pulsar 200NS) using Solidworks.
Successful in detecting the loads acting on the connecting rod as a function of time at a constant speed of crank shaft.
Identified the weight reduction opportunities by examining various materials such as Aluminum alloy, Tool steel and Titanium alloy and succeeded in minimizing the deflection in connecting rod.
Fluid Flow Analysis through a Channel
Designed and simulated fluid flow through two concentric circular and octagonal bodies.
Considered the material as iron, water as heat transfer fluid and the inner body acts as a heat source.
Successfully obtained velocity, pressure and temperature distributions along both the channels.
Design of Multi-Linkage Steering Mechanism
Designed Multi-linkage steering mechanism and succeeded in satisfying Ackerman steering condition.
Extracted equations from the geometry and successfully simulated them using MATLAB software and determined the required quantities of the design.
Design of a Governor
Designed a governor to regulate the speed of an internal combustion engine.
It is designed such that the overshoot in response to a step input is less than 20 percent.
The 2 percent settling time in response to a step input is very small. For load disturbance input, the output is very insensitive.
