Objective: University student with several college courses under my belt, eager to continue to build my professional experience.
Experience:
Metro Intern for the Looby Branch Library:
This included: Shelving books, organizing shelves, casing DVDs, handling deliveries, helping visitors, etc.
Sales assistant for the owner of Tried and True Home Bakery:
This includes: informing customers of deals, setting the sales area, charting the amount product that has been sold, etc.
Team member for Alaska Book Company
I shelved, sold and recommended textbooks to college students of all ages. I helped with inventory on days I wasn't need on the cash register. I was also in charge of answering the phone and relaying customer concerns to the manager.
Bellarmine Chemistry Lab Work-study
As a work-study for the Chemistry Department I have to get Labs ready for the chemistry classes. This requires my full attention and varies from collecting chemicals to making the solutions myself. I have learned quite a bit just by working behind the scenes for the chemistry department. Although I have big jobs, like preparing labs, I also have to make sure test tubes and beakers are washed properly and interact with students when the situation calls for it
Skills:
Patience with frustrated customers
A high regard for team work. Including the knowledge that, if one teammate struggles, everyone else may be thrown off course
The ability to communicate clearly and respectfully to both the customers and the other employees.
Learning new techniques and then promptly applying them to my work ethic.
Education
High School:
I used most of my time in high school preparing for college
I first attended East Nashville High, but was offered a better opportunity to prepare myself for college at Middle College High on the Campus of Nashville State Community College, so I left my first high school after my sophomore year.
In my freshman, Sophomore and Junior years I helped create Yearbooks for both of my high schools. My job was to organize the photos and create captivating page layouts for each section. Thus, I was the design leader each year.
I was also on the Archery team as a regular member.
At Middle College High, I was able to receive 23 credit hours for college before I graduated.
While I was there, I made it a point to try my hardest at everything I set my mind to. I was one of the top students there and now I'm a bit ahead in college after earning credits from high school.
College
I now attend Bellarmine University as a Chemistry major with a double minor in art and Biochemistry and I have a pre-pharmacy focus.
I had gained 40 credit hours by the time the second semester of my freshman year rolled around
My goal is to get as far ahead as I can, but to acknowledge my limits
I am apart of the Chemistry club currently and I have some experience in setting up displays from helping the art department during a student show
although I am very busy as a full-time student, I learned how to balance work and school before I graduated in May, 15 2015 by working at the campus bookstore
Everyday college teaches me the importance of having grit and prioritizing properly
