EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

I have over 25 years of accounting and administration experience in the following areas which forms the foundation of my career:

• I have hands on experience with setting up and maintaining computerised books of accounts up to balance sheet.

• I am a proficient financial accountant with extensive working knowledge of internal and external audits, and producing financial reports and audited financial statements in line with international accounting standards.

• I have administered and maintained payroll systems for up to 40 employees where I also assisted with filing of income tax returns and PAYE remittances for the company and individuals.

• I am a goal getter with extensive negotiating skills in business contracts, portfolio investments in financial markets, employment contracts and procurement of fixed assets gained over my career lifespan.

• My presentation skills in meetings and to a large audience using visual aids have been exceptional in driving the business growth at IGI Insurance and Sealman Supplies resulting in significant business growth for both entities supported by electronic and print media campaigns.

• My role as a company secretary at an early age has exposed me to high level executive meetings, handling sensitive information, preparing reports and liaising with the Chief Executive and Board Members as well as producing accurate minutes of proceedings of these meetings.

• I am also involved in livelihoods sustenance through sustainable agricultural initiatives by improving the value chain across input, field to market divide in the community where I come from where my plot was nominated as a demo centre for conservation agriculture using no till planters mounted on two wheel tractors.

CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS

• I started my career at Old Mutual in 1991 and was awarded a divisional merit award in 1994 and a worker of the year award in 1995 for spearheading a computerisation project that changed the data input system from batch system to on line data input resulting in an efficient real time data entry system with minimal errors and resulted in significant savings in stationery, time and staff costs. The project resulted in direct staff reduction in four departments by over 50% translating to over 50 employees.

• I joined IGI Insurance in 1996 as an accountant and was promoted to Finance Manager and Company secretary in July the same year and, General Manager in 1998. I computerized both the accounting and insurance systems and consistently produced ‘clean’ audited financial statements. There was significant improvement in premium collection, response to queries and early settlement of claims thereby improving customer satisfaction without increasing staff count.

• At IGI I rebranded the corporate image and developed credit insurance products covering personal loans for banks and micro finance institutions after the company had lost over 80% of its traditional credit insurance business on Hire Purchase contracts to a competitor. I was in fact the pioneer of Bancassurance in Zimbabwe.

FUTURE PLANS.
