Orbital Tool Technologies: 2012 – 2014

OTT is a field machining and equipment repair company primarily serving the power generation industry. The company was purchased by a private equity group in July 2012 with insufficient due diligence and very optimistic expectations. Significant unplanned operational expenses resulted in cash flow problems and a restructuring of the organization.

Director, Business Development

Responsible for development of customer relationships and sales strategies to allow Orbital Tool Technologies to aggressively grow through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

Increased year-over-year revenue though the third quarter of 2013 by 33% while spending in the power generation market was down 36%.

Vestas is a $6.0 billion EUR Danish company and the world’s leading manufacturer of wind turbines for the power generation market.

Responsible for all business/service operations in Canada and Northeast USA consisting of 26 staffed service sites (63 different customer projects) employing approximately 300 staff who operate and maintain 1,700 wind turbines that generate 3.2 Gw of electricity and produce $100M in annual service revenue.

Hydro Inc. is the largest independent high-energy pump repair / upgrade company in North America. The company focuses on providing engineered pump upgrades for the power generation; pulp and paper; and municipal markets.

General Manager / Regional Sales Manager

Responsible for a service operation and sales territory that includes Virginia; North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Florida. I served the power generation and pulp & paper markets by providing on-site sales and technical support for pumps and pumping systems. This was a turn-around situation that required developing the customer base from the ground floor.

FLOWSERVE CORP. (formerly Ingersoll-Dresser Pump Co.), Greer, South Carolina 1999 – 2005

$6.0 billion worldwide manufacturer of pumps, valves and mechanical seals and associated equipment repair services. Primary markets served include the major electrical utilities, pulp & paper, petrochemical, water & wastewater, and process industries. The services provided include repair of multistage high-energy pumps, steam turbines, and blowers; technical component and system support including failure analysis; and on-site services including field machining.

Regional Service Manager

Responsible for a service area covering the south eastern United States including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. P&L responsibility for a repair service center located in Greer, South Carolina that generates approximately $8 million in annual sales.

These standard engines and compressors, along with the automated control systems, are assembled into complete operating packages that are custom designed to meet the customer's specific application and unique operating conditions.

AJAX-SUPERIOR DIVISION, Springfield, Ohio (a division of Cooper Energy Services)

Manager, Field Engineering, Field Service and Warranty Administration 1997 – 1999

Management responsibility for field engineering, field service and warranty administration for both domestic and international locations. Administration of a warranty budget reaching $6 million annually.

Leader of a worldwide product upgrade and field retrofit program that improved equipment continuous run time reliability from 80% to 90% initially to better than 97%

Reduced warranty expenses by 25% or $1,500,000 in one year

Manager, Package Engineering and Engineering Services 1992 – 1997

Designed, justified and obtained approval for a new manufacturing facility that lowered operating costs and reduced floor space requirements by 50,000 square feet without impacting production output
