Panolam Surface System, aka Pionite/Nevamar, Auburn, ME 2007-2015
Plant Manager: $80-$120 million annual revenues with 18 direct reports and 350+ employees reporting into the COO at Corporate HQ.
Controlled all aspects of manufacturing for three divisions including High Pressure Laminate (HPL), Thermo-fused Melamine papers (TFL), Resin manufacturing for internal and trade sales (Specialty Resins), and delivered EBITDA of 30%+ most quarters.
Collaborated with the CFO on cost projections, negotiated and purchased electrical supply contracts and highly volatile natural gas contracts, which saved $300K by purchasing on the speculative markets. Responsible for facility budgeting and maintaining actual to budget spending.
Successfully developed and executed all capital budgets for the facility, which resulted in structured upgrades of facility and equipment.
Led the facility through a rebuild of major equipment when a fire shut down parts of production with little to no impact on customers.
Proactively integrated two separate processes with a single labor team using lean principles, which reduced labor by 50% for that operation.

Restructured workweek to eliminate overtime, when capacity restrictions required overtime to meet demand, which reduced labor costs $15k per week.
Mentored and trained department managers on developing and executing their budgets; which resulted in understanding of budget management, and on target expense controls.
Developed a process with excel spreadsheets to manage productivity and quality by department, shift and team, which is currently in use today. Allowed real time information for production efficiency.
Created formulas to monitor and understand daily workload, production and quality to manage operations for fluctuations in requirements, which enabled team to smoothly deliver output within cost restraints.
