Career Track

Test Bed Software Engineer, Solidus Technical Solutions, Lexington, MA 2013 to 2015

Assigned to MIT Lincoln Laboratory as senior LabVIEW engineer for a large optical communications project. Maintained, debugged, and upgraded a massive suite of LabVIEW testbed control programs. Dramatically increased efficiency while reducing system resource needs by implementing new advanced LabVIEW functions to the test suite. Documented all test suite changes. Wrote ITOS control programs on a Linux platform for optical communication hardware. Executed performance testing of deliverable hardware.

Senior Software Engineer, UTC Aerospace Systems (formerly Goodrich), Westford, MA 2013

Hired to an eight-month contract position to design and write a large part of software to test the individual components of a surveillance system for aircraft. Began coding within a few weeks of hire after quickly mastering the surveillance system. Extracted undocumented system commands from C code written for an earlier system. Produced detailed documentation of the control software.

Senior Test Engineer, Lilliputian Systems, Inc., Wilmington, MA 2012 to 2013

Brought on for a five-month contract position to complete the development and implementation of LabVIEW software that controlled test systems for a butane powered cell phone charger and its main components. Completed test system design and construction. Developed LabVIEW and SQL software that wrote all test data to a database. Documented specifications and test procedures for each test system.

Systems Engineer III, Brooks Automation, Chelmsford, MA 2010 to 2012

Designed and wrote LabVIEW control software for many of the company’s semiconductor wafer processing systems using DeviceNet communications. Created standalone executable software versions and detailed test procedures used by production floor technicians.

Functioned as lead test engineer on the Automatic Wafer Centering (AWV) Sensor Project. Designed and built an experimental system for evaluating the performance of opto-electronic wafer sensing devices at temperatures from 22 C to 220 C. Designed and wrote LabVIEW software for test automation, temperature control, collection of sensor electronic data, robot motion control, and data analysis. Authored a detailed test report.

Performed as lead test engineer on the Hot Wafer Project. Refurbished and restored an MX-800 engineering system to full operational condition. Designed and wrote LabVIEW software to run the system in its normal operating mode. Expanded system and software capability to measure wafer slippage on the robot arm up to wafer temperatures of 400 C.

Senior Principal Systems Engineer, BAE Systems, Lexington, MA 2007 to 2010

Served as test engineer on the Bold Stroke Read-Out Integrated Circuit/Focal Plane Assembly (ROIC/FPA). Compiled and analyzed ROIC/FPA data to troubleshoot performance issues. Prepared test results for presentation to ROIC designers and management. Modified and upgraded MATLAB test software.

Participated as a systems/test engineer on a team that qualified the 17mm Thermal Weapons Sight (TWS) design. Established a procedure for collecting and analyzing images that aided in identifying the root cause of FPA image quality problems.

Acted as systems/test engineering lead for environmental testing of the Bridge TWS. Designed and wrote LabVIEW test software for all environmental tests. Wrote test plans/procedures derived from system requirements. Produced detailed test reports for customer, the US Army.

Software Designer and Programmer, Draper Labs, Cambridge, MA 2007

Hired to a 3.5-month classified contract position to design, write, and document master control software in LabVIEW for a complex multi-part system that enabled the operator to control multiple computers and test programs via a single computer in a remote location.

Physicist, SSG Precision Optronics, Inc., Wilmington, MA 1998 to 2006

Performed as design/test engineer for a state-of-the-art, high-precision Fast Steering Mirror (FSM), an electro-optic assembly. Designed the test station to verify static and dynamic performance. Designed and wrote LabVIEW software to fully automate the test station.

Functioned as design/test engineer on the Space-Based Infrared Surveillance (SBIRS) HI IR Focal Plane Array Internal Calibration Unit (ICU), with primary responsibility to design, fabricate, operate, maintain, and upgrade a fully automated test station for space telescope hardware associated with a recognized national asset. Played a key role in developing the detailed design of the IR ICU source, including source configuration, dimensions, and spectral characteristics. Designed and wrote LabVIEW software for data analysis, temperature control, instrumentation, and full automation of the entire test system.
