Cost Accountant, Gates, Corp., Iola, KS, June 2002 – Nov. 2014

I was a member of the 3 person Accounting Department which included the controller at our facility, the subject matter expert for Sarbanes Oxley compliance, an internal auditor, and one of 4 tester/planners for Oracle costing and quoting.
Determined way to reduce time and effort when costing in Oracle. Led the change through the IT department at Corporate.
Month-end inventory was labor intensive and time consuming. Time was slashed in half, eliminating overtime, by creating scanning labels for all materials that allowed direct entry into the computer system. This process also cut out human error of hand entering the information. I was part of the team that came up with this solution and implemented it.
As the SME for Sarbanes Oxley, one of my responsibilities was to ensure compliance at our facility. I created electronic record keeping for process owners that allowed them to record any process changes, to document compliance was being met on a monthly basis by all process owners, and to keep them aware of any updates and changes. Maintaining these electronic documents allowed for successful audits.
