Computer Aided Design and Finite Element Analysis for Vehicle Components
Vehicle Dynamic knowledge and Adams/Car Simulation OBJECTIVE
To obtain a full time entry level engineering position with emphasis on Product Design/CAD and Testing. EDUCATION
Michigan Technological University 2012-2016
B.S. Mechanical Engineering GPA 3.5/4.0
TECHNICAL SKILLS
CAD(UGNX), Hyper Mesh(FEA), Adams/Car, Microsoft Office, MATLAB & Simulink, LMS Amesim, Six Sigma Analysis, Lathe/Mill Operation, Welding.
ENGINEERING PROJECTS EXPERIENCE (SENIOR DESIGN) Fall 2015-Spring 2016 Senior design team leader on suspension optimization and vehicle dynamic performance evaluation project
Modeled components in UGNX and built new template with adjusted hard points in Adams/car for simulations.
Utilized Adams/Car to test the current vehicle suspension and steering performance. Discovered potential vehicle ride and steering issues based on vehicle dynamic knowledge.
Proposed ideas for optimizing the current vehicle suspension by changing its geometry and other related parameters (Shock absorber settings, Brake ratio, etc.).
Built the optimized suspension prototype and performed its validation process in Adams/Car.
Solved the current vehicle’s over steering and poor anti-diving performance by increasing the controls arms’ angle for 15 degrees in longitudinal direction and 10 degrees in lateral direction. ENTERPRISE EXPERIENCE (HYBRID ELECTRICAL VEHICLE ENTERPRISE) Fall 2014–Spring 2016
HEV Enterprise is a five-year program at Michigan Tech, sponsored by General Motors, to design, assemble and test a hybrid electrical vehicle based on a 1950 Chevy truck.
HEV powertrain and suspension team drew the suspension and chassis components in UGNX.
HEV Enterprise manufacturing team worked on engine mounts.
Designed a mount for GM LS V8 5.3L engine on the chassis.
Solved linear actuator installation for HEV automatic manual transmission.
Designed a mount that won’t bend under large linear actuator force.
Designed and installed a proper shaped exhaust pipe for the HEV truck which has complex chassis geometry. FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS EXPERIENCE
Performed FEA tests for suspension control arms, engine mounts, linear actuator mounts, etc.
The analyzed FEA results showed that the material failure problems could be solved after adjusting the control arms’ angle in longitudinal and lateral directions.
The new designs of engine mount and linear actuator mount did not have material failure problems.
Important FEA tests results were validated with theoretical value calculated by MATLAB programs. RELEVANT COURSEWORK
