PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
President\General Manager, Star Prebuilt Homes, Acheson AB 2014-2015 Full P&L responsibility for division, 140 employees. Redesigned plant layout in Dec. 2014 from 40+ stations to 22 resulting in improved production flow reducing overall costs to produce and increased throughput. Combined work and reduced overhead costs. Negotiated long term pricing agreements (reductions) with suppliers.
Operations Manager, Aspen Custom Trailers Leduc, AB 2012-2014 Led the Operations Team consisting of Safety Coordinator, Purchasing & Materials Mgr., Plant Manager, QA\CI Coordinator, After Sales Support Mgr, and Production Planning Mgr., 130 employees. Successfully reduced WCB costs by reducing recordable injuries through employee training, implementation of Standardized Work, daily audits and implementation of return to work program. Improved First Time Quality by implementing root cause analysis approach to problem solving. Established clear KPI`s for Plant in support of overall company goals and objectives. Measured and displayed performance to planned KPI`s to drive counter measures to achieve continuous improvement.
Chocolate Production Manager, Ganong Bros. Limited St. Stephen, NB 2009-2012, approx. 200 employees. Facilitated kaizen team to improve the Line 5 production process improving safety, quality and production resulting in sustainable scrap reduction (14% to <1%) and throughput shift attainment improvement (<50% to 100%) and thereby remaining competitive to retain business. Implemented 24 hour production tracking boards on all production lines to display performance and highlight areas for improvement. Implemented employee involvement program to facilitate continuous improvement ideas and projects.
Factory Manager, Valley City Manufacturing, Dundas, Ont. 2009 Led the Plant Operations Team (110 employees) implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and processes, shift production tracking\story boards, standardized work to improve safety, quality and productivity. Improved forecasting and production scheduling leading improved delivery performance. Successfully achieved union's involvement and support in Lean implementation.
Assembly Manager, Presstran Industries, St, Thomas, Ont. 1999-2009 approx. 800 employees Division of Magna Automotive. Began career at Presstran as Materials Mgr., developed and implemented Inventory Management System to control stock outages, production interruptions and large dollar adjustments to monthly P & L reports. Implemented build to schedule resulting in improved delivery performance. Transferred to Production leadership role and trained and implemented Toyota Production System. Assisted division in Iowa in implementation of Production Schedule, Inventory Management and Production tracking system to improve delivery performance to major customer. Also assisted division with implementing Lean Manufacturing. Loaned to the Iowa Division to oversee the launch of a new non-automotive program.
Materials & Logistics Manager, KS Centoco, Tilbury, Ont. 1998-1999 approx. 400 employees. Responsible for Shipping, Receiving, Production Scheduling, Purchasing and Transportation. Negotiated long term sole supply agreements with suppliers resulting in reduced raw material costs and delivery improvements. Implemented improved production scheduling to support plant production and improved Customer Delivery Performance.
Materials & Logistics Manager, Accuride Canada Inc., London, Ont. 1980-1998 formerly a division of Firestone Canada, approx. 1100 employees. Started career at Firestone as General Accounting Supervisor and moved through various levels of Management to Materials & Logistics Manager, responsible for Shipping, Receiving, Customs & Traffic, Material Handling, Inside Sales, Purchasing, Production Scheduling, and Paintline. Developed improved shipping schedules and dock usage to increase shipments from 600 K lbs per day to over 1million lbs per day eliminating bottleneck to support additional business. Improved Customer Delivery Performance from low 80 % scores to average of 99%. Successfully developed and implemented strike contingency plan while at Accuride Canada to support Customer requirements without incurring service delays. The plan included production, housing salaried employees to carry out the production, logistics and security. Championed Team to eliminate annual summer shutdown and implement rotating 12 month shutdown reducing costs and improving start-up. Involved in numerous Corporate projects to assist other Accuride divisions to continually improve operations.
