11/2009 – Present Children with Leukemia, Grass Roots Organization Volunteer Each Thanksgiving we raise money for hospitalized children with leukemia and their families by selling raffle tickets. Then deliver gifts and a Thanksgiving feast to them: Cardinal Glennon Childrens Hospital, STL, MO 12/2010 – Present Veteran’s Of Foreign Wars, Proud Honorary Member & Volunteer Helped raise over $20,000 (A record high) at the December 2011 VFW Victorian Christmas booth selling Hot Mulled Wine. Duties included kitchen and food supply ordering, planning weekly menus in advance, organizing staff work schedules and ensuring that the individual dietary needs and requests of elderly clientele were met. While employed at this 250 resident assisted living facility, I learned how to be a good listener. It is an important skill I've carried with me and refined during my medical training. Obtained T-cells, B-cells from HIV/AIDS patients and tracked their immune systems over time to show response to research interventions, operated a Beckman Coulter Flow Cytometer to analyze PBMC’s, responsible for setting up workstations, trained and supervised new employees in research methods and as a certified phlebotomist I was in charge of drawing control blood for the entire institute. 06/2013 - 03/2015 Internal Medicine Fellowship: Licensed Physician Fellow Adult, Geriatric and Palliative care rotations, St. Louis University Hospital. Taught, supervised and facilitated team collaboration with medical students, medical residents interns, nursing staff and healthcare administrators. Teaching and supervising are passions of mine and was very grateful to receive top-notch evaluations stating that I will be nominated for the Fellow of the Year Award. Clinical duties consisted of inpatient and ambulatory patient management, specialized Geriatric care, Allergy and Immunology, Endocrinology and Rheumatology, inpatient adult and geriatric Psychiatry in locked psych ward, at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Hospital. I also worked in Geriatric Internal Medicine at Life Care Center, Skilled Nursing Facility of Saint Louis. Home Visit Healthcare in all areas of Saint Louis: Ferguson, North County, South County, Inner City and rural homes. This required bringing all medical equipment such as weight scales, otoscopes, blood pressure cuff’s and of course, thinking on our feet. (abandoned in a Walmart parking lot) that we named Rougaroux after the legendary creature of the Louisiana swamps. In my free time I stay in shape by running in the park with my dogs and boxing. I also love interior decorating and arts and crafts, specifically creating unique Holiday wreaths.
