EMPLOYMENT

2014 – present Freelance software engineer

Provide software engineering services to small machine shops on contracts lasting a few days to a week or so.

2011-2014 Senior Engineer, Sikorsky Aircraft

Provided guidance in avionics, flight control, and hydraulic systems integration for a medium-lift helicopter fly-by-wire control system. Conducted electronics/hydraulic systems integration analyses, system safety analyses, and flight qualification tests in a realtime simulated environment.

2006-2011 Contract Engineer to Sikorsky Aircraft, Belcan Technical Services

Same as Sikorsky position above.

1997-2005 Senior Software Engineer, Cyclone Microsystems

Develop low-level startup and driver code for high-speed I/O offload circuit boards based on the Intel i960, PowerPC, and Xscale processor lines. Port pSOS and VxWorks operating systems to same. Communication protocol development using SCSI, ATM, T1/E1, Ethernet, Firewire, etc. technologies. Programming languages used include assembly and C. Provide technical support to customers incorporating our products in their systems.

1996 Lead Software Engineer, Morse Watchmans

Develop low-level startup and high-level application code for several lines of security monitoring systems. Managed a team of four other software engineers and consultants on same. Base processors included the Intel 8051 and 80186. Programming languages used include assembly and C.

1983-1996 Senior Control Systems Engineer, AlliedSignal Corporation

Develop application code for full-authority digital engine controllers (FADECs) for gas turbine engines in a variety of ground and air vehicles.

Specify and manage hardware design and configuration of such FADECs plus all attendant accessories such as sensors, actuators, hydraulic systems, etc. Continue development of these engine control systems through test stand and vehicle test programs. Conduct formal design reviews of these systems with customers. Conduct formal software quality assurance and certification programs for these systems to DO-178B and FAA standards.
