Objective

Looking to advance my career and knowledge that will change the means of transportation for a safer and more enviromently friendly form of transportation.

Experience

I was involved in many aspects of constructing the new high-speed rail improvements in the North East Corridor. I’ve been with Amtrak since 2007. I have experience in new constructions and maintenance teams “gangs”. Staring with the New Haven maintenance gang it’s was were I learned the ways of safe and effective work environment. I have also been involved in the replacement and renewal of the New Haven to Springfield tie job. Went to school to be a Forman because I was eager to learn more, after leaving class I was involved in managing contractors removing old communication poles from New Haven to Springfield. I’ve also been involved with the timber gang in Boston as a foreman removing old timbers from transfer and read interlocking. Working sometimes seven days a week. I’m also a qualified on many aspects of welding from Thermite welding, mig, stick and tig and worked a few years learning the ins and outs of rail and steal adjustments do to weather and stress. One other thing I’ve done is run and been qualified on several different machines, from the Dynocat to a backhoe, frontend loader, excavators and some use of bulldozing. Through the 10 years at Amtrak 9 years were using all types of manufacturers and years. Small cranes (pettiebone) and familiar with hand signals for safe and effective moves. I’m also familiar with LSI systems for cranes and several other pieces of essential equipment. I felt the urge to learn more so I joined SES to learn how to build turnouts and being part of the East River Access Project in NYC and seeing more of Amtrak’s infrastructure. I’ve been from Boston to Maryland and I loved the learning experience I’ve retained from each obstacle. In the beginning of my career at Amtrak I took a class offered by the BMWE (TEAMSTERS) and learned Hazmat Transportation/Chemical Emergency Response Training and DOT General Awareness, Familiarization, and Safety Training. There are many more things I’ve experienced at Amtrak and learned through out the years but I found it hard to move up in the company.

Skills

There are many skills I retained from the time I was hired at Amtrak. One major skill I have is how to work safely and get the job done efficient. I have many qualifications both from Amtrak and past jobs. I am experienced on a great deal of equipment. Starting with Earth moving like Backhoes, Front-end Loaders. I’m also qualified on the Grapple truck, Tie Handler and some more lager and more hands on machines like the Dyno cat that fixes the geometry of the track. I have a great knowledge of electrical, hydraulics and other mechanical operations. I have also possessed knowledge on other types of welding and O and A from past education. Some of the more important things I’m strongly skilled in communication, I take things like organization very serious in my everyday experiences. One other important thing I have is being able to problem solve when under stress and staying calm thinking things through.
