The practice provided high level, complex accounting, tax and financial planning, financial statement preparation or audit were a significant part of an extensive range of services. Staff were given challenging assignments from day one and expectations for error free, time sensitive results were unbending. Effective time management was an absolute expectation. I have carried those standards with me throughout my career.

1984 – 1987

Successfully established a practice in the Conifer-Evergreen Colorado area. The practice offered tax and accounting services. Significant part of the practice involved management advisory services to professionals and start-up enterprises. Representation before the IRS was above average due to a prior tax preparer who was deemed to be a “problem preparer” and a number of clients first came to me as they were summoned. Knowledge and a professional approach led to fair settlements and minimal penalties.

Each of these positions involved taking the reins in an entity with severe financial organizational management and accounting issues. All had revenue in the multi-millions and over 100 employees. Strong organizational skills were the key to I establishing proper accounting and internal control procedures. Effective mentoring was also key to upgrading staff skills bringing the organization to successful turn-arounds.
