Course Projects

Senior Capstone Design Project: Light Industrial Building. (Spring 2016)

Designed a roof truss system and frame structure due to the load combinations with consideration to desired settlement and project location in a group of 4 people.

Calculated dead load, roof live load, wind load, and snow load due to the design of roof truss.

Assisted groupmates to use STAAD to created 3D model with load combinations, and designed different member sizes.

Revit Model Project. (Spring 2016)

Modeled one wing of UB South Ellicott Student Housing facility which is a seven story building to Revit program in a group of 4 people.

Gathered information of distances between grid lines, locations of columns, size of beams and footings, and length of walls from the Blueprint.

Built a 3D model of the complete structural portion of the facility; created detail views at appropriate scale; arranged a column schedule and placed it on a detail drawing sheet.

Pavement Structural Design and Evaluation Project. (Spring 2016)

Developed feasible flexible and rigid pavement structural design alternatives for a new highway by using the 1993 AASHTO design method.

Estimated the cumulative ESALs, determined the thickness of layers and the corresponding performance periods considering the effects of environmental factors.

Conducted the life-cycle cost analysis to select the most economically efficient alternative as final design solution.

Wastewater filter project. (Fall 2015)

Created a dirty water filter using bottle, sand, cobblestone, cotton, and activated carbon.
