American International Contractors Inc., Special Projects Arlington, VA Procurement Engineering Design Engineer June 2015 – December 2015
-Assisted the Procurement Manager with all US material procurement, engineering, and design efforts for US Government overseas construction projects. Specialized in Electrical Procurement, but also handled Mechanical systems, e.g. HVAC units.
-Performed Procurement engineering evaluation and item equivalency evaluations in support of site engineering departments.
-Provided engineering expertise to the procurement officers to assist in product selection.
-Developed and maintained excellent relations with suppliers to help make the Procurement process as straightforward as possible.
-Attempted to independently develop new methods of efficiency to save employee man-hours, e.g. gained enough proficiency in Excel VBA to successfully write a code to automatically extract drawing amendment information from pdf releases of changes, then file the changes in the company’s Excel tracking workbooks. Endoscopic Excision Arm, Micro/Nano Robotics College Park, MD Design and Modeling September 2014 – December 2014
-Helped design a milli-scale endoscopic cutting and extraction arm to fit on previously developed standalone endoscopic imaging robots.
-Aided partner in research of actuation mechanisms, designed the layout of parts using Creo Parametric, and adjusted part sizing based on stress/strain data gathered from finite element modeling.
-Received A’s on both project and presentation.
Electrochromic Glasses, Integrated Product and Process Development (Capstone) College Park, MD Team Member September 2014 – December 2014
-Designed circuit concept, helped select and finalize component selections, and used human factors study to assign product layout for battery-powered glasses with variable tint level.
-Responsible for physics and modeling write-ups for periodic progress reports. Binary Stopwatch, Electronics and Instrumentation II College Park, MD Solo Design and Production May 2014
-Designed, coded, and wired Arduino controlled stopwatch with lap and reset functions.
-Created binary output represented by both real wired LEDs as well as an on-screen virtual display that included numerical tabulated history of lap times.
-Wrote stopwatch code in Arduino and on-screen display in Processing. Received A on project. DEWALT “DW272 Drywall Scrugun” Grip Redesign, Product Engr. And Manufacturing College Park, MD Team Member September 2013 – December 2013
-Helped lead a team of 6 students in researching and testing one of DEWALT’s drywall screw gun models. Assisted in keeping team on-task so that all deadlines were met.
-Analyzed and modeled physics of the system for both general research and the final grip redesign project.
-Received A’s for both final report and presentation. Modeling Moth Flight, Undergraduate Research Experience College Park, MD Volunteer Undergraduate Research Assistant October 2014 – December 2014
-Designed and constructed mounts for lighting and laser sensors used to detect moth position and trigger camera shutters
-Utilized 3D CAD modeling in Creo Parametric and laser cutting software and equipment
-Received some basic machine shop exposure
