This is a London branch office of a Singapore based company which is a 100 % subsidiary of MOL (Mitsui OSK Lines).It was incorporated in 2006 to undertake Spot and Time chartered tanker business which was previously undertaken by the parent company MOL.

Overall Area of Responsibility

Responsible for all crude oil fleet operation in Mediterranean, Black Sea, North Sea, Baltics and everything West of Suez Canal, Arabian Gulf to East and West, West Africa to Asia.

Responsible for commercial operation of the vessel from Pre fixture to post fixture including communicating with the operation superintendent for vessel/terminal/charterer questionnaires prior fixing the vessel.

Responsible for managing the day to day operational activities of voyage and time chartered vessels, ensuring vessel’s voyage is performed efficiently, smoothly and costs are kept to a minimum.

Preparing vessel position list and updating chartering department of the future openings of the vessels. Providing advice to chartering department on areas such as cargo suitability, stowage planning, regulatory compliance, vessel limitations and other economic implications of local vessel operation

Communicating with third parties such as (charterers, brokers, agents, bunker traders) and Captain regarding voyage orders, vessel itineraries. Executing necessary instruction to spot and Time chartered vessels in line with orders and weather pattern.

Undertaking commercial activities such as invoicing and expenses, preparing freight and other charterer related invoices accurately in compliance with the vessel charter party. Ensuring the invoices are signed as per delegation of authority and submitted to the charterer within the deadline.

Maintaining and updating company system (IMOS) chartering and operations module. Ensuring all voyage related information and charterer related expenses are updated on daily basis.

Prepare Laytime calculation, Turkish strait transit delays, Demurrage, Hire Statements and all other charterer related claim and issue invoices within the stipulated deadline of the charter party. Follow up on all claims and counter as per voyage and oil major charterer party.

Manage and ensure compliance with the charter party terms that have been agreed.

Optimally planning and arranging bunkers for the vessel depending on the rotation and the bunker price.

Drive initiatives to reduce bunker consumption, identify different scenarios in order to maximize loading and reduce bunker consumption.

Monitor bunker consumption per voyage and draw a bunker pattern for the particular trade which assists chartering to fix rates together with other factors.

Overall Area of Responsibility

All operations of Liner vessels plying in African, Asian, Europe and Latin American ports

Bunker optimization and savings. Identifying areas where bunkers cost can be minimized and advise vessel/Management to reduce costs

Responsible for handling South African- North Europe, Far East Asia to Latin American Strings.

Maintain and update schedule reliability and vessel performance for all Liner vessels

Maintenance of safety manuals, safe-memos for vessels entering port(s).Ensuring all terminal details are correctly updated every 6 months in the Safe memo database upon sign of from respected terminals

Building and maintenance of pro-forma schedule for vessel(s)

Update Schedules on daily basis in order for all booking desk to be advised on the exact position of the vessel

Scheduling

Responsibility to get estimated number of moves from Capacity desk and co ordinate berthing with the respected terminals. Further prepare and upload in Intranet the daily/ weekly berthing plan per port (including changes vs. pro-forma and reasons)

Responsibility to identify and address berthing delays of +12hrs, if contingency needs to put in place than get approval from all stake holders.

Communicate long-term schedule to vessel, cluster, port agents and all stakeholders, further if any changes than revised schedule to be sent to all

Report schedule reliability and vessel performance to Route Manager and Liner Operations

Manage casualty involving vessels and ports, coordinate port closures and holidays and prepare contingencies in order to ensure timely cargo delivery/connection and inform all relevant parties.

Communicate speed adjustment to all vessel based on berth availability to save bunkers

Scheduling

Responsible for preparing schedules for the feeder vessels plying within the Tanzanian ports and ensuring same are updated on Global schedule page by AFROPSFDR

Ensuring the pro-forma schedules for all feeder vessels are up to date in conjunction with AFROPS in order to ensure correct data is reflected all the time

Ensuring Global Scheduling page is kept up to date all the times with correct information so as to reflect the correct information for our customers further suggest changes to operations centre to make necessary adjustment to the schedule as per the berthing situation in port

Liaising with terminal and EOC to plan berthing in order to best utilize the bunker consumption by advising vessel to slow down or speed up.
