***** ********** ** ** *********, OH 43105 419-***-**** ***************@*****.*** Dear Hiring Manager,
I am a graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I am currently seeking full time employment in an engineering position that will help me build upon the skills I have already gained. As indicated on my attached resume, I have over a decade of experience in teamwork and leadership settings. My experience spans from maintaining computer labs at Bowling Green State University, to leading fellow Marines in equipment inspections while enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
Most recently, in an internship at Stanley Electric, I submitted numerous research reports including a thermal properties study. The purpose of the study was to determine the heat dissipation of a circuit board based on location of the heat source, and size of the heat sink. I also built a small scale prototyping reflow soldering system that lowered the system cost from around $5,000 for a commercial unit to about $500.
I feel that I am well suited for a position in your company based on previous experience as well as the curriculum that I have completed as a Mechanical Engineering student at Ohio University. While enrolled at Ohio University, I have participated in many group projects that have enhanced my teamwork, and problem- solving skills. Multiple lab courses have allowed me to improve my design, analytical, organizational, and critical thinking abilities.
Relevent software: MATLAB, Engineering Equation Solver, Solid Works, Solid Edge, Catia V5, AutoCAD, MastaerCAM, Simulink, Arduino, C, C++. Sincerely,
Michael Altvater
