Tyson Foods, New London, WI May 2015 – May 2016

Building and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

Supervised 9 union maintenance mechanics in the maintenance of a 600,000 square foot high output food production facility and all out buildings and grounds. To include maintenance planning, scheduling and purchasing functions.

Filled in as shift maintenance supervisor as necessary supervising nearly 20 mechanics and electricians in electrical and mechanical maintenance to include various food processing and packaging equipment, smoke houses, conveyor systems to include but not limited to Cozzini, Mepaco, and KSI machines.

Involved in food safety, facility and employee safety as well as HACCP, FSMOC and USDA meetings.

Took part in the implementation of a Reliability Centered Maintenance program at this facility and developed a training flex matrix for use in identifying training opportunities for all hourly maintenance department employees.

Supervised 15 maintenance mechanics and electricians in the routine maintenance and repair of foundry and facilities equipment to include one DISA mold machine, one KW cope-drag molding machine and one BMD cope-drag molding machine and their associated sand systems.

Worked on Pangborn and Metcast blast machines, a large tumble blast and various machining and finishing equipments.

Worked on numerous vibratory and belt conveyor systems and environmental systems to include various dust collectors.

Planned daily work activity on night shift, coordinating with production and melt department.

Was responsible for overseeing, enforcing and recommending changes to lockout/ tagout, confined space, fall protection, PPE and all other safety programs on assigned shift.

Supervised as many as 30 hourly union and non-union electricians and mechanics in maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as well as facilities maintenance on assigned shift.

Monitored employee safety programs on assigned shift to include extensive confined space entry, lockout/tagout, fall protection, PPE etc.

Developed and maintained a maintenance program for confined space meters.

Developed an electric motor repair cost estimate matrix with information from several vendors to reduce repair costs. Resulted in a 50% cost savings on motor repairs in most cases.

Managed overall operations of the entire hot strip mill from slab storage yard thru steel rolling and to shipping, on assigned shift. Supervised fourteen union hourly production employees and two salaried maintenance foremen. Was responsible for production through put, safety, quality, and maintenance activities.

Served as a Transition Team Member and Spokesperson from development to implementation of new hot mill salaried staffing plan resulting in salary cost savings for the department.

Electrical Maintenance Foreman, Hot Strip Mill September 1994 - July 2000

Supervised union electricians and crane millwrights in electrical and overhead crane maintenance on assigned shift. Supervised maintenance and troubleshooting of large D.C. motors and associated variable speed drives and all control circuitry to include PLC’s. Monitored employee safety programs on assigned shift to include confined space entry, lockout/tagout, fall protection, PPE etc.

Supervised overhead crane maintenance to include cable changes, gearbox changes, wheel changes, electrical and mechanical maintenance, and upgrades to control circuitry.

Served as overhead crane Area Foreman responsible for eighteen overhead cranes during the absence of the assigned foreman. Scheduled and documented crane maintenance and annual crane inspections.
