Focus Statement
I have a passion for teaching, and especially enjoy English and history. I have ten years’ experience teaching English in China, which has given me the opportunity to develop teaching skills and acquire a good deal of cross-cultural experience. I am seeking the opportunity to bring my passion and past experiences into the classroom in order to provide students with valuable real-world perspectives on life and learning.
Professional Experience
2013 – 2015 New Light Christian Church, Palatine, Illinois
English Ministry Pastor Intern: Responsible for pastoral care of the members of the English congregation at New Light Christian Church. This includes leading Sunday School for Youth, leading Friday night activities, and preparing and delivering sermons each Sunday.
2008 – July 2013 ELA Academic Coordinator: Responsible for the welfare of all English
Teachers and language students in the English Language Association throughout China. Duties included recruiting and placing teachers, conducting orientation for new teachers, pastoral visits, negotiating contracts, and organizing Summer Schools for volunteer teachers.
2007 – July 2013, Xi’an Northwest University of Politics and Law, Xi’an, China
2004 – 2006 University English Teacher: Taught reading, listening, and writing to undergraduates in the English Department. This job included creating curricula and lesson plans for Reading and Audio/Visual classes, and making use of creative teaching methods.

I worked together with the pastor and other members of the Leadership Team to decide the direction of the Almond Garden Fellowship, an International Sunday fellowship in Xi’an. I also preached on occasional Sundays.

2000-2002 I taught Sunday School and conversational English to International students, and spoke at public functions for the International House, a mission of University Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

I helped teach Sunday School to International students, and helped provide leadership for the International Sunday School at First Baptist Church.
