PERSONAL STATEMENT:

My primary objective as a geologist is to apply my knowledge in geology/applied geology/exploration geophysics to perform investigative works that would aid and lead to solving different problems in related industries like Oil and Gas, mineral, groundwater, construction etc. This will ultimately fulfill the organization s core goals. Having been a Research Hydro-geologist and a Provincial Manager in Water Resources Board, I have broadened my understanding of Hydrogeological/geophysical concepts and processes and honed my skills in groundwater exploration and assessment, monitoring and general organizational management. This said, I am positive that I can provide a significant contribution to the organization. Further, I strongly believe in results oriented teamwork.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE :

 I was fully assigned to do the research on Hydrogeology in Limestone terrain of northern Sri Lanka to establish a long-term groundwater monitoring network in the Jaffna Peninsula as well as other parts of the country when necessary hydrogeological surveys to be done. Research activities mainly covered the following areas.

 Assessment of hydro-geochemistry through comprehensive sampling processes in dry and wet period covering one climatic cycle considering various anthropogenic and natural activities which influenced the water chemistry. This involves laboratory and in-situ quality analysis depending on the requirement where in-situ quality assessment required.

 Delineating of subsurface hydrogeological set up through 1D geophysical techniques to locate the exploratory boreholes for the assessment of hydrogeologic properties through field testing such as geophysical logging, test pumping etc.

 Preparation of Spatio-temporal water quality distribution maps and assessment of groundwater flow regime maps of the area in ArcGIS. Preparation of reports.

 2D geophysical resistivity investigation and interpretation of data and ground surface Leveling using DGPS to obtain the elevation of GW level at each of the monitoring well with respect to single datum (Mean Average Sea Level)

 Conducting of public awareness including the stakeholders on the outcomes of the study on groundwater resources in the Jaffna Peninsula, under the chairmanship of District Secretary, Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

 Responsible for overall administrative works of Provincial Office, Jaffna such as employee related matters, attending to seminars, workshops, meetings and field visits, Conducting awareness programs, Supervision of the Laboratory and drilling crews, training the university undergraduates, etc.

In addition to my regular activities relevant to this study, i have participated for the following training programs.

 Development of Groundwater Models for Sri Lanka conducted by modeling experts of India.

 Installation of Data Loggers to monitoring wells conducted by an expert of Seba Hydrometrie, Germany.
