PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

ACCESS MEDICAL CLINICS (AMC), Mililani and Ewa Beach, Hawaii January 2008 – Present

Performs medical services as a certified Physicians Assistant (PA-C) for Access Medical Clinics (AMC), an owner-operated of the first two clinics in Hawaii situated entirely within a drug-store setting (at Long’s in Ewa Beach and Mililani, on Oahu); AMC sites see patients, 2-years old and up, for a wide variety of acute care needs on a walk-in basis. Duties include eliciting detailed patient histories; performing complete medical examinations; diagnosing and treating ailments, with appropriate referrals to specialists when needed; following chronically ill patients, conferring with physicians when needed; documenting treatment rendered, prescriptions written and follow-up instructions; suturing minor wounds; ordering appropriate laboratory tests; and counseling patient and family on health and disease.

NAVAL MEDICAL CLINIC, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii June 1988 – January 2008

Practiced family medicine as well as emergency medicine in Medical Sick Call and in the facility’s Acute Care sections. Duties covered a full range of activities pertinent to the Physician Assistant’s role, as itemized in above segment – vitally concerned, on a personal basis, with preventing, maintaining and treating illness and injury, while delivering a broad variety of healthcare services traditionally performed by a physician. TRIPLER ARMY MEDICAL CENTER (TAMC), Honolulu, Hawaii March 2004 – January 2008

While working at the Naval MC, also provided part-time medical services on the weekends at Tripler, the Army’s largest medical facility in the Pacific. Primarily assigned to the Urgent Care Center to treat patients from the Emergency Room whose conditions did not constitute true emergencies.

MEDICAL PRACTICE OF ARNOLD SEID, MD, Wahiawa and Ewa Beach, Hawaii Feb 2003 – Jan 2008

Simultaneously provided medical services, mostly on a part-time basis, for a private internal medicine practice with three locations. Duties included assessing patient complaints and injuries, performing physical examinations; ordering appropriate x-rays and laboratory tests; diagnosing ailments; conferring with physician on difficult cases; and following up on patient treatment plans.

TRIPLER ARMY MEDICAL CENTER (TAMC), Honolulu, Hawaii May 1190 – April 1992

While assigned to the Acute Care Center, assisted in the hiring and scheduling of new Physician Assistants within the department; screened and interviewed potential applicants and made recommendations to management regarding strong applicants; new program dramatically impacted workload levels in the Emergency Room, according to internal audits.

RCM, Anchorage, Alaska January 1988 – June 1988

After moving to Hawaii in 1987, also provided medical services for RCM, a private firm contracted to deliver industrial medical services in remote areas along the Alaskan Pipeline. As the nearest supervising physician was 600 miles away, treated a broad array of problems, including orthopedic accidents. Also, arranged transportation for patients needing off-site medical attention.

OTHER Assignments as Physician Assistant August 1978 – November 1987

In Hawaii, served on a short-term basis as Physician Assistant to a family practice contractor for the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and five other hotels, Waikiki, HI (August 1987 – October 1987). Previously in New York, was a PA at St. John’s Hospital, Elmhurst, NY (March 1987-July 1987) and before that, was employed long-term as a Physician Assistant/Orthopedic PA at The Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York (December 1978 – November 1986). Applicant began medical career as a PA/Surgical Assistant at Mary Immaculate Hospital, Jamaica, New York (August 1978 – December 1978).
