I am a Registered Nurse with 25 years experience. I have spent a majority of my nursing career in managerial positions in home health and hospice. My most recent position was as the Administrator of a start up Hospice Agency, in which I was integral in performing all tasks related to a start-up company including the writing of policies and procedures & creation of mandatory programs required by Medicare and CHAP, leading to a successful CHAP survey and receiving of Medicare Certification.
I have excelled in the specific area of Quality Management and Compliance. I consider myself an expert in documentation review, particularly of home health and hospice and I was integral in helping a home health agency gain status as one of the top 500 agencies in the nation with HomeCare Elite.
During my career I have frequently filled the role of educator, an area that I enjoy. I have developed numerous programs and in-services to educate staff on documentation & regulatory requirements in the areas of home health and hospice. I also developed the infection control program at the El Dorado Correctional Facility that was provided to all correctional staff, which included TB education, Hepatitis education, & bloodborne pathogens. I also developed and taught a program meant to educate officers who would be working in outdoor areas which included, basic first aid on snake bites & poison ivy.
I have found over the years that I am able to learn new EMR software very quickly and was the primary EMR instructor at Serenity. I educated staff on the software as well as managing any software problems that occurred day to day.
Over the years I have developed a successful management style. In my experience, gaining the respect of staff is very important and this is done, in part, by managing by example. I want my staff to know that I won’t ask them to do anything that I would not or cannot do myself. As a manager I have high expectations, however, I strive to give my staff the tools they need to meet those expectations.
I am very loyal and dedicated and I have an excellent work ethic. I also have excellent time management and organizational skills. Regardless of the task at hand, whether it is a new project or a new job, I give 110% to complete the task.
