Objective: Find a quicker and more efficient way to develop HL7 interfaces.

Responsibilities include researching a quicker and more efficient way to implement HL7 interfaces by using FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) Specification, which is a standard for exchanging healthcare information electronically. This includes loading the complete development environment and all tables and code, modifying existing code to provide a more expedient solution. http://hl7.org/fhir/overview.html

Allscripts Healthcare Solutions Inc. Richmond, Va 06/2011 to 05/2014

Business Analyst

Objective: Get our clients connected to their respective state’s immunization registry in a live environment.

Responsibilities include contacting every immunization registry in the US to gather the requirements necessary to get a live connection from our Hub to that registry.

This helped Allscripts Sales team by making our products more appealing by having these connections already established. This meant Meaningful Use objectives were one step closer.

Personally responsible for finding a way for our clients to meet Meaningful Use Stage One by discovering a way to convert XML messages to HL7 messages that met the State’s criteria.

This ensured our clients got their fair share of the billions of dollars that the Federal Government put aside for practitioners to get electronically connected.

Gathering requirements from the registries for any HL7 deviations from the CDC and also connection details including protocol (web services, FTPS, SFTP, HTTP), log on credentials and security certificates which ensured critical HL7 messages would be received and processed according to the registries specifications.

Worked with VXU, VXQ and QBP messages. Sent hundreds of test messages to each registry to be approved to go live.

Learned in detail every field passed to the registry, LOINC codes, CPT codes, etc.. This allowed Allscripts and our clients to be one step closer to meeting Meaningful Use.

Coordinate efforts between our development team (offshore and onshore), QA, our clients and the registries. Used the Agile methodology for the ongoing development process.

Used Lean Six Sigma approach in the development process. Met daily with development team to ensure requirements were coded correctly and met the required timeline.

My experience as a C++ developer made this communication easy, sometimes I would provide them with pseudo code for quick implementation.

Create data mapping from XML tags to HL7 fields, and troubleshooting connection issues using SQL, BAM (Business Activity Monitor) and Hub Log Viewer.

Utilized Team Foundation Server (TFS) to create and track the Project Life Cycle.

Create Detail Design Documents for the Development team, Test Plans for the QA team.

Directly responsible for making sure clients were able to meet Meaningful Use. Resolved escalated issues, met regularly with high level executives to solve any pending issues. Oversaw weekly meetings with registries to handle oncoming clients needing to connect.

Once any client of ours met meaningful use, they were overjoyed and this ensured a long lasting relationship with Allscripts. This was the most satisfying part of my job.

Utilized SDLC for all development/support of all the EHR applications.

As senior consultant, was an active member on the design team from the inception of SFA (Sales Force Automation). Designed from the highest level to the lowest level, provided design documents, implemented, tested and maintained the project in an object oriented environment using C++ and MacApp. The SFA application was used by 1800 Sales Reps and District Managers on their laptop as a tool to order cigarettes, promotional items, and POS advertisements. It was also used to monitor the Sales Reps productivity, how many accounts visited, etc.. SFA was full of edits that ensured the Sales Rep entered the proper information by enabling/disabling fields that were dependent on each other. This system replaced a bubble sheet that took weeks for feedback for incorrect entries. This project streamlined the process for Sales Reps by giving them immediate feedback with the edits put in place in the software, something that took weeks before now had a 24 hr turnaround time.

Created Unit and Integration test plans. Coordinated user acceptance testing and sign-off.
