Finite element analysis:
o Anti-Roll Bar-Finite Element Analysis of Anti-Roll Bar to Optimize the Stiffness of Anti-Roll Bar and the Body Roll.-The objective of this paper is to analyse the main geometric parameters which affecting the stiffness of anti-roll bar using ANSYS.
The deflection for the change in internal angle, arm length, moment of inertia, distance between bushes found by static analysis. We have got satisfactory result of anti-roll bar in terms of reducing the roll of the body that is roll angle of the vehicle by using the simple geometry of anti-roll bar.
we can reduce body roll up to 67.68 % than vehicle without anti-roll bar so finally we can conclude that if implementation of the our modified bar is used then finally stability of the vehicle will improved. (Jan 14 to May 14)
o Multidisc Clutch- Analysis of Multidisc Clutch Using FEA- Structural analysis is done on the friction plates to verify strength plates and friction materials, materials used for analysis are LO31 and hybrid SF-BU.
By observing the analysis results, the maximum shear stress, Von-Mises stress and total deformation values for hybrid SF-BU are less than LO31 respective values.
So we expected that for multi plate clutches using as hybrid SF-BU friction material is advantageous than using LO31 as friction material (Published in IJETT International journal). (Jun 13 to Nov 13)
CFD Analysis:
o Aerodynamic- Analysing The Profile Modification Of Goods Carrier To Prune The Aerodynamic Drag And Its Repercussion On Fuel Economy. This paper focuses on the improvements to the truck trailer aerodynamics this can be achieved by the aerodynamics drag reduction devices using aerodynamic CFD analysis in Fluent calculating drag coefficient, pressure drop and lift.
The results are drag reduction of 21% on truck trailer and equivalent drag force reduction from 23kN to 18.14kN which leads improvement in fuel economy of 4.2 liters per 100 km at an average speed of 30m /s of truck.
Aerodynamic modification tends to the increase in lift by 3.3%, which is induced 151N upward lift force for 20 Ton truck, and this is reducing the traction force by 0.79 % which has very negligible effect. (Published in ELSVIER and also presented in 8th International conference SET VIT University). (Jan 14 to May 14) o Pre-Chamber- Design and Study of Pre-Chamber to Enhance the Lean Limit of SI Engine (participated in 7th International conference SET, VIT University)- The present study of pre-chamber conjunction with ANSYS CFX gives a clear view about the charge behaviour just after explosion, and this behaviour varying according to shape, geometry and size of pre-chamber.
Finally one can conclude that the torch ignition system is capable to give significant improvements to the internal combustion engines efficiency, and also it restricts the NOx, HC and CO emission. (Jul 13 to Nov 13)
Engine Technology:
o Modification And Performance Evaluation of SI Engine to Burn the Syngas (Synthetic) Fuel for Power Generator Application- In this work modification was done to fuel inlet supply system of SI engine running on Gasoline to burn the Syngas as fuel and estimated the performance and emission characteristics.
This fuel produced from mixture of five gases is CO2, CO, N2, CH4 and H2 and these gases are abundantly present in environment.
I concluded, by using Syngas we can generate electricity at lower cost even though fuel flow (A/F near to 1) is high and by production method and composition, the emissions reduced to grater extend as compared to engine running on Gasoline. (Jan 15 to May 15) o Performance and Emission Analysis of C.I. Engine Using Biodiesel and Its Blends. In this study, Performance and emission of Karanja oil Biodiesel engine is experimentally investigated. (Published in International Journal of Advance in management technology and Engineering Science).
Conclusion from project Biodiesel is natural resource and it reduces emissions but simultaneously NOx emission increases, small power reduction but lubrication increases. Reasons for less uses of Biodiesel are, per litter cost is high, and production capacity is less, government policy. (July 11 to April 12)
Modal Analysis- Modal Analysis of Muffler Using FEA Technology. The vibration analysis which is used to find mode shapes, Natural frequency and respective frequencies using ANSYS software package.
Conclusion of this work, The changes in muffler geometry by including perforations have some improvements in the lower mode but is smaller in the higher mode The changes in the material proves best in both the cases of investigation and the way to implementing must be employed for getting good results in the long run. (Jan 14 to May 14)
