PROFESSIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:
As a tier 1 supplier / Product Engineer - Pursuit of new business, preparation of quote documents, dissection of preliminary math data to build BOM’s. Evaluate customer requirements and asses supplier capabilities to meet requirements. Heat transfer label on unusual shaped substrate. Redesign of secondary equipment and process including DV & PV testing.

Including but not limited to, 2 shot molding (PP substrate & EPDM 2nd shot) and over molding onto steel stampings.

MCE of wireless cell phone charger added to center console. Included a unique heat transfer label and as a tier 1 supplier, responsibilities included development of a label formulation, a modified secondary operation to transfer the label to the substrate and validation of the same label on a PP because no surrogate data was available.

Design Release Engineer (February 2002 – November 2009)
DVP&R, DFMEA and DRBFM (Design Reviews Based on Failed Modes) experience as well as math data transfers, GD&T stack ups and knowledge of Six-Sigma, ( started experiment and had to stop due to demands of other responsibilities).
Design reviews utilizing Teamcenter and the VAS (Virtual Assembly System) also Chaired PDT (Product Development Team) meetings for all phases of product.
Design responsible for Interior components (entire cockpit) all garnish, center consoles, IP, overhead systems, floor coverings, and door trim.
Root cause, 8D method to design and engineer solutions for issues turned on as PRTS and/or blue card issues from the plant level. Support UAW activities in the assembly plant to act as a buffer between engineering and the plant.
Author all work orders in E2, Present work orders to CAB (Change Approval Board) for approval.
Facilitate all supplier changes for all releases of interior components.
Support Tech reviews for potential BTAB activities.
Working knowledge of most General Motors databases, PRTS, SUGGS, APM, REUSE, TEAMCENTER, SUPPLY POWER, updated GM training as required in GMU.
Implemented cost reduction efforts resulting in $1.75M annual savings to General Motors as well as reward incentives for Cadence Innovation. Other CR ideas included communizing parts between platforms, PN reductions and redesigns to eliminate components of assemblies.
Facilitate repair bulletins (evaluated and implemented repair issue to offer a low cost repair for major fleet, containment including release of repair kit as large dollar cost avoidance to GM - GMT560 door trim pads) Review for approval, dimensional reports from CMM layouts to PPAP parts.
Review and approve annual FMVSS compliance summaries all interior components.
Approve annual owner’s manual to include changes from interior, make changes to draft copies for final approval.
Feasibility studies of employee and supplier suggestions, evaluations including business case to quantify cost reductions. Mockup interior components when necessary for engineering tryouts.
Product Engineering (May 2003 - June 2008)
Rear door trim GMT745 (H3) from concept through launch, compile and maintain bill of materials. Identify manufacturing issues to aide design responsible engineers with solutions in math prior to prototype tooling. Engineering Tryouts for prototype trim parts on engineering bucks to identify and resolve issues prior to steel tooling math release. Travel to assembly plant for tryouts, report issues and identify design or manufacturing resolve - Resulting in a successful launch.
Garnish trim and door trim - GMX381, GMX386/384 - Support PDT meetings for take over business - math data transfers/ dimensional layouts / manufacturing issues. GMX001 Center console take over business. Error proofing of fixtures and components assembly processes for manufacturing.
