1.1968 to 1972: Employed by the Department of Justice as Clerk of Civil Court and Clerk of the Criminal Court
2.Feb 1972: Transferred to the Department of Social Welfare and Pensions: Handled applications for Social Pensions and Grants
3.January 1975 to December 1996 : Appointed on Parliamentary Staff of the Department of Health and Welfare. Main tasks were to liaise with Members of Parliament on welfare and pension matters and to assist legal advisers with translations of draft Bills and Regulations. Progressed through the ranks as Parliamentary Officer, until promoted to Deputy Director Parliamentary Services in 1989, responsible for legislation, budget of the Ministry and Parliamentary sections, personnel matters and tabling of official documents in Parliament. After 1994 democratic elections responsible to the Director General of Health and Ministers like Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma. I addressed an ad hoc Committee of Parliament on the Ratification of the Convention of the rights of the Child, during the 1995 parliamentary session.
4.Had to vacate position after 1996 parliamentary session due to transformation of Parliamentary Staff and took “early retirement” from the Civil Service at the end of 1996. April 1997: Appointed as Registration Officer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and promoted to Manager: Registration in October 1999. The portfolio for the development and administration of the CPD system was added to my responsibilities after the implementation of the Engineering Profession Act, 2000 (Act 46 of 2000) in 2001. Fulfilled duties as Secretary of the multi-disciplinary Committee on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which researched and developed an appropriate CPD system for the engineering profession in South Africa. The CPD system was successfully implemented in January 2006. I have done more than 400 presentations on the ECSA professional registration processes and CPD system during my 13 years in the position as Manager: Registration and CPD. I reached the compulsory retirement age of 60 for ECSA employees in February 2010, but was immediately re-employed by ECSA as Manager: Registration and CPD on a contract basis for another two years and since 1 April 2012 as a consultant on Registration and CPD. My contract as a consultant ended on 31 March 2015. I am still active on a part time basis as a consultant to I-Sizeze Africa, on professional registration and CPD for the engineering profession.
