Objective
To continue my career as a professional Mechanical CAD Designer, planning and executing projects from start to completion including concept, design, drawing creation, fabrication, and assembly.
Summary of Experience
Supervised teams creating quality products in a timely fashion for projects of all sizes maintaining a positive work environment. Created solutions to production problems and instigated systems resulting in higher efficiency.
15 years of experience in industrial/mechanical design. I have been Instrumental in the creation of shop/fabrication drawings both in power plant and millwork industries. I am experienced in AutoCAD software from release R14, 2000i, 2002 through 2014, CADWorx Professional 2007 through 2014. I also have hands on experience utilizing NavisWorks, a computerized CAD viewing and walk-through software for 3D modeling. I have played a role in the entire power plant 3D modeling for each project with Barlow Projects and Range Fuels. I also have some experience using the software SolidWorks 3D design.
Worked directly with steel fabrication shops on all of my designs answering questions for change requests and overseeing quality control.
Education
Continuing Education classes in AutoCAD at FRCC and through Autodesk, Inc.
California Polytechnic State University, SLO
3 years of Coursework in Chemistry & Graphic Communications
Professional Experience
Sundrop Fuels, Inc March 2015 thru February, 2016
Sr CAD Designer
Set up the CAD department for this startup energy company, created all blocks, standards, titleblocks,
Libraries and filing system. Created all drawings of P&IDs, PFDs, 3d models for upcoming projects
And 3d presentations for in house use as well as investor information. Worked closely with process engineers, mechanical engineers, project managers and executives gathering all pertinent information, proceeding with design drawings and models for release to fabricators. Used AutoCAD and CADWorx
Programs, latest versions.
Behrent Engineering March 2014 to January 26th, 2015
Designer IV Mechanical/Piping Designer
I was the sole designer in the Mechanical Department designing piping, mechanical equipment, platforms and P&IDs, focusing primarily on 3D design of conveyor systems for the transfer of cement at transfer stations and piping layout for various other clients. I was recently trained to operate the 3D Laser Scanner equipment purchased to aid in the development of as-built drawings as well as accurate 3D models of existing equipment for the purpose of pipe and equipment additions.
Out of industry work while searching for a local Drafting / Design Role.
URS Corporation September 2012 – March 2013
Piping Designer (CADWorx P&ID)
Piping Design
P&IDs – CADWorx P&ID Program
Process flow diagrams – CADWorx P&ID Program
Valve and pipe lists – Excel Software
First piping member to join the team of our latest and greatest recent project
Scheduling for pipe design on this project – Excel Program
Out of Industry work while searching for a local Drafting / Design Role. Owned a photography company in this timeframe called J Brook Photography.

Set up Corporate CAD Department, created standards, designed border templates, created block library as Senior CAD designer.
Coordinated and directed contract designers and drafters.
Trained new drafting and design employees as to company standards.
Created ISOs for piping fabrication.
Designed mechanical assemblies supporting various large proprietary equipment such as drive shaft assemblies, large and small instrument housings, and basically any necessary mechanical related improvements to new technology equipment.
Designed various small mechanical improvements to Devol System and Feed System
Created Process Flow Diagrams and Block Flow Diagrams for permitting and Board of Directors presentations.
Assisted Manager of Instrumentation and Controls and Senior Instrumentation Engineer with all drawings associated with their need, ie PLC drawings schematics, layout, etc.
Created 3D models for presentations and manufacture.
Worked directly with vendors on design and fabrication of Ash Removal and Feed Systems.
