Professional Experience
ABENGOA BIOENERGY BIOMASS OF KANSAS, Hugoton, KS 2014 – 2015
Shift Supervisor
Participated and provided oversight in successful start-up of first-ever second generation ethanol plant. Ensured proper operation of biomass to ethanol and electricity by maintaining all standard operating parameters within specifications to achieve plan production goals. Managed, mentored and trained a team of 6–8 operators to perform day-to-day activities to ensure development and execution of efficient production processes and procedures. Tracked, troubleshoot and adjusted process variables on the distributed control system. Complied with proper safety and health practices in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and KDHE to protect and minimize adverse effects.
Successfully produced 17MW of electricity from corn stover from the intended goal of 21MW.
Sold 27000 gallons of 2G ethanol at a price higher than 1G ethanol.
OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY, Stillwater, OK 2012 – 2013
Research Assistant
Investigated specific renewable sources of energy for the production of useful fuels and chemicals. Conducted gasification tests and thermogravimetric analysis using torrefied and densified switchgrass as a biomass feed. Conducted laboratory tests and statistical analysis of torrefaction and densification of raw switchgrass for improving the characteristics of raw switchgrass. Performed fixed-bed gasification of torrefied and densified switchgrass with air as an oxidant at various operating conditions for the production of synthesis gas. Determined overall material/energy balances and net thermal efficiency.
Gasification of combined torrefied and densified switchgrass resulted in the highest CCE (92.53%); and CGE (68.40%) at the gasification temperature of 900 C.
Outcome, combined torrefaction and densification significantly improved gasification performance of switchgrass.
