I am submitting this resume’ for the opportunity, for the position as a Director, as a Registered Occupational Therapist who is Licensed in the state of MI, with a Masters’ Degree in Special Education, with an Inclusion Specialist Certificate. I have 17 years of professional experience as an Occupational Therapist, with the adult and the pediatric population in various clinical settings, and psychosocial settings.
I have most recently worked as a Contract Therapist performing per diem homecare services for the adult population for a hospital setting. I have previously worked in a Skilled Nursing Facility for approximately 7 years with being full time for 2 years and contingent for 5 years. The SNF, was Michigan Health and Rehabilitation Services, where I provided documentation, and evaluations for the Geriatric population with various orthopedic and neurological disorders, and diagnosis’. The other provided experience pertains to having expertise in child development, with also in a community mental health setting, and 13 years of previous health related experience for a total of 27 years within the health field. I previously was an Equipment Specialist at the Detroit Institute for Children, where I also was an Occupational Therapist, treating the pediatric population, in an outpatient rehab facility. I provided a continuity of programs, and treatment care for an accumulation of 6.5 years. I previously was employed at the Eagle Mountain School District in Texas, with providing School District assessments for educational programs, for the special education population at four to five different schools, with approx. 55 students on caseload. I am Nationally board Certified and a Registered Occupational Therapist with a Michigan license, with a previous ability of being license with an organization of DIC for being a State provider for Medicaid. My Bachelors degree is a degree in Science in Occupational Therapy, from Wayne State University on December 1999, where I am also a Nationally Board Certified Occupational Therapist Registered. I am a Phi Theta Lambda. Additionally, I have 10 years of experience, as an auxillary staff member in various positions which include: clerical, physical therapy technician, and a representative for various companies, for an overall experience of 21 years.
The Masters’ Degree in Special Education provides for an extensive knowledge base with various educational laws and legislation regarding, Child Find, FERPA, the IDEA(formerly called P.L. 94-142), and IEP procedures. I also, have extensive knowledge regarding transition planning, classroom management, RTI, and the educational system regarding No Child Left Behind Act. This knowledge exemplifies a foundational knowledge base for providing information regarding educational planning for providing functional behavioral assessments (FBA’s), positive behavioral supports, and provide various behavioral assessments.
Furthermore, as a Licensed professional Occupational Therapist Registered, I have the the ability to provide a multitude of adaptive assessments for selfcare, and functional daily living assessements and behavioral assessments.
Furthermore, I have excellent communication skills with family members and parents, with an aptitude for facilitating and applying a knowledge basis with the most comprehensive educational planning. Also, at the nursing home where I currently work I provide comprehensive treatment planning with discharge planning services, with transition services to the families served for an increase with safety with the home environment. . I additionally, have excellent report/writing skills, to facilitate applicability with the determination procedures for the educational planning, transitional planning services, and educational school improvement budgeting.
Furthermore, I previously held a position of an Occupational Therapist at the school of Livonia Public Schools, I performed treatment, instruction, and maintained records for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I also, have previous experience with Cognitive Impairment, as well as, students with Neurological Dysfunction. I have experience of providing recommendations and consultation on various strategies, and equipment to be utilized to enhance students’ behavioral plans. There at the school district I facilitated and collaborated efforts for the administration of the MI-ACCESS, to students for the MOCI program. Previous to the School, I worked at the Detroit Institute for Children, which is an outpatient rehabilitation facility, of where I am now currently. I worked there for approximately 6 years. There, I provided treatment and evaluation for children with the ages of birth to 21 years of age. The treatment procedures included assessment and evaluation, and development of treatment goals, and administration of behavioral and sensory technique and strategies. Furthermore, at the rehabilitation facility I tended to the Activities of daily living clinic, as an Equipment Specialist. At the clinic I evaluated and recommended appropriate durable medical equipment. The equipment was for the pediatric population, where I serviced with documentation in the form of justification letters, to various vendors, and medical insurance corporations.
The population in which I have experience with consists of : Cognitive Impairment, Autism, various Neurological Disorders, Sensorimotor dysfunction, Behavioral disorders, and Mental Disorders. As an Occupational Therapist I would be able to exemplify excellent experience with a medical background, as well as provide a business approach with having knowledge of the perspective payment system, provide information regarding Medicare compliance, and information regarding reasoning with transition planning services for the geriatric population.
