Summary as Dimension Control;

1. Drawing issue for construction, interpreting drawing, counter check on shop drawing, cutting plan issued by Engineering department, to ensure cutting plan are identical with shop drawing. Bevel of material at joining area are correct, including plates and structural pipe bracing joining.(T, K, Y joint)

2. Materials checking on side, to ensure material are matching according to the drawing and cutting plan, record material grades, heat number, safe keeping of those for QA Tracebility.

3. Jobs delegation for staff for marking, inspection on materials been mark in term of dimension, material, heat number checking. Guide fabrication supervisor on critical area on bevel joint, joining of 2 different thickness of steel plates.

4. Monitoring job task been given to staff, compiling daily completed task, future task planning, man power planning, schedule monitoring.

5. Monitoring and guide hull erection supervisor on critical erection on certain equipment foundation. To ensure that the foundation meet the requirement in straightness, levelness, dimension in between as well.

6. Side modification monitoring, most of the projects always required onsite modification either new drawing revision or certain obstruction. On drawing modification, identify onsite, hands on job on marking relevant modification area. Guide relevant personal on cutting, erection, installing and etc. On obstruction side, identify the issue, sketch out the area in terms of obstruction like, girder, foundation, stiffener, ducting, MCT and etc, in detail complete with dimension for engineering to come out better solution base on the sketch.

7. Panel fabrication monitoring, small and big panel, foundation for equipment, verification & dimension survey on each and every panel, issuing dimension reports for owner to verify and sign.

8. Guide erection section on bottom plate laying, erection of longitute, transverse bulkhead, side shell, lower deck, twin deck. Dimension survey will ongoing during the process, to ensure that all job will be done in short period of time. Dimension Survey Report will be produce for owner before weld and after weld report.

9. During block erection, which are crucial, each block will produce its own dimension report. Guiding Project Supt / Yard Manager important Dimension on site to ensure that all the block assembly are according to drawing, due to certain circumstances, dimension possible are not matching to drawing, report to engineering department onsite information, they will come out the best solution. (Block weight 200-900tonnes)

10. Joining method are base on engineering department which are wet joining at quayside, which that time Baku, Azerbaijan do not have any Dry Dock Facility. Surveying using total station on floating method which are not an easy task, normal level are not applicable. We are using coordinate method to guiding relevant personnel on the task, on erect crane column, Helideck support structure, deckhouse, Drill Floor Leg, Drill Floor Pancake, Derrick, Rotary Table, Crown Block, and much more.

11. Control point transfer, from pontoon to upper column, from upper column to upper hull, from upper hull we guide most of the team to erect Deckhouse, Drill Floor Leg, Drill Floor Pan Cake, Riser handling crane foundation and Rail, BOP Carrier @ Moon Pool, Port & St'bd Crane Column, Crane pedestal, Derrick erection, crown block, Etc.

12. All reports are produce in 2 forms, drawing are in Auto Cad, XYZ method, relevant documentation in Words or Excel.

Total station surveying/ EDM are

NIKON Total Station ~ DTM 350, DTM 532, DTM 502, DTM 430.

For Total Station Surveying equipment, more use to Nikon Total Station, but there is accident do happen, contractor do accidently damage our equipment while they are pulling the hose, which accidently drag towards the tripod of total station. With no choice, we've to borrow Technip's LEICA Total Station. Basically Coordinate setting, control point setting are identical.

Pipe structural which are more on Helideck Support Structure, Anchor Racks. which myself are building at least 3 units of it. Due to there is no CNC equipment that time at Caspian Shipyard Co. Ltd at Baku, Azerbaijan. Myself have to provide all the pipe cutting edge development for my staff to mark all the pipes, including OD, Bevel, Intersection. Guiding hull to build the helideck from zero. Monitoring on Dimension Before and After Weld, keeping welding gaps, Final Dimension for as build.

Myself are Malaysian Chinese, born in the country that have to learn 3 country languages, Chinese, Malay & English. Adaptation to other country which are crucial for every personal due to culture, environment, foods, climate, language and much more. Which myself went to Azerbaijan, a country that most local speaks Russian Or Azeri language. Able to perform the job well, learning their language, culture and others.

Pushing the meet the schedule is crucial, but is pointless while throw the blame to the yard if they have not build, do not understand due to codes and standard. Which happen to myself while in China, QingDao seconded to ALSTOM for building 8 units of conveyor belt coal feeder to Germany. We guide them, teach them, there is always a way to find solution.

2008 ( In between Layoff Period )

Seconded to ALSTOM by Zazen Inspection as Structural Inspector for 3 months period in China Qingdao to built 8 units of Coal Feeder Conveyor Belt unit.

DUTIES - Structural inspection on Dimension, welding joint, issuing NCR.

- Dimension/ Structural inspection with Yard QC.

- Liaise with Pioneer yard on require equipment for fabrication on structural, mechanical parts.

- Progress report to Germany.

-Good team player, backing up each other which enable team able to perform to highest standard possible.

-Fast learning mentality, Total Station which enable our team at CSC to manage to completed with high standard, while none of our team members went through any Total Station Training course, we learn from the instruction manual which allowed us to explore new Dimension through it. From XYZ, to control point set up without instructor guiding. Which BP awarded highest Quality award Presidential Awards to the company.
