Career Summary:
Sept 2014-present - BIP Technology LLC (contract), Lead technology engineer in charge of design, development and deployment of critical, high-availability, network sensor system for Elder care tracking of residents and caregivers as well as environmental conditions for facilities in Oregon and Florida. Also designed Windows based system for home integration including sensors, cloud server and Android interface. Built Windows UI based system monitoring and configuration. Designed & developed BTLE sensors, sensor boards, embedded Linux controllers and multiplexor to greatly simplify system installation and maintenance, reduce cost with expansion capability. Integrated system included cloud and local servers and custom Android software.
Sept-2013-Sept-2014 – Nike(contract) – Senior Software Engineer with core team of Android and iOS developers for “Sneaker heads” application in joint development effort. Previous Nike work on several large scale, sales systems integrating systems in Europe and the US for the first time to create a near real-time communication and eliminating age-old delays and conflict caused by bad data. This system was converted for use in Asia and the Americas after successful deployment.
2006-2007 & 2009-Aug-2013 – Hi-Tek Electronics – Software Engineer (2006-2007) and Technology manager in 2009 handled general management in 2012 until the company was purchased. Windows based development for ERP system interface. I was responsible for developing Windows and Web applications for business ERP, production efficiency and customer communication. Software I developed reduced quoting time to 1/10th the time while increasing information scope and pricing accuracy which also reduced mistakes by approximately 25%. I also developed several Windows and Linux applications for machine programming and part handling including Custom software for motor control of conformal coat machine. I managed tools & equipment acquisition and integration, developed Android software for circuit board recognition and part management system using OpenCV. The last two years as general manager I was responsible for customer and engineering liaison, team management, HR, equipment and day to day operations.
2006-2009 - Gossack Consulting – Developed Email Filtering System named DualQ which is an Email spam filtering system which filters based on sources using near-simultaneous, congruent messages sent to multiple, correlated destination email addresses, effective in eliminating spam email.
I developed a personal portable Wireless security & detection system for home and office for use with Windows and Linux interfaces (Delphi and Free Pascal). Features included USB interface and remote detection/status accessible remotely via internet.
2000-2005 Timemark - Complete redesign and creation of Windows based data retrieval, storage and innovative analysis system for vehicle traffic data collection systems. Software interfaced with Timemark vehicle data collection devices. Created data collection tool, analysis software was the first dynamic analysis system allowing for unprecedented clean analysis of incomplete and noisy data sets that had previously required new clean data collection studies be run which saves municipal resources and employee time.
2003-2007(overlapping) - Dtek Wireless (co-owner & CTO) - Designed and developed a wireless vehicle detection system integrating with current traffic systems and controllers. Developed wireless sensors using magneto-resistive sensors to detect fluctuations in the earths’ magnetic field and the signatures read to determine vehicle type and travel information. Controller receiver communicates through custom backplane to NEMA & 170 type vehicle controllers. Managed the hardware system design & testing for in-house and outside engineering firms. Wireless sensors used custom built patch antenna for RF communication. I was responsible for developing the firmware & advanced features in-house. Wireless system simplifies and reduces the cost of installation, maintenance and damage to roadways.
1999-2000 Forest City Trading Group - Reengineer of legacy AS400 system to newer Windows based n-tier technology, designed and developed trading & information systems for lumber trading conglomerate.
Work of note:
Nike (5 years consultant/employee) Software Engineer - European Division System Design & Development. Windows, AS/400, C++, Java, SQL Server, Sockets/Pipes, multi-threading. Developed the first multi-threaded, cross-nation, cross-system Windows Server networked application at Nike in order to access more accurate and real-time footwear sales data. Solved the problem of selling product that wasn’t still available.
IBM (consultant)Technical arm of IBM sales division, responsible for testing & integrating AIX & UML/Design Engineering suites & tools for the division. System and tool integration and training.
