SAP Galway-Languages Services Team Intern June2015-June 2016

This role is a specific yearlong role for interns so it’s not possible to turn it into a fulltime position.

The role has allowed me to increase skills I obtained during my Masters and other years in college. I use Macros and Visual Basic in the position and also work in a project management type role receiving courses in for translation, requesting resources and assigning and organisations for the translation, then checking invoices and deadlines regularly with said customers/teams. This has increased my organisation and prioritising skills, and also reiterated the importance of working as part of a team to a deadline. This was important as some team members/Interns work from German so daily contact regarding course material was needed. Monthly reporting using Dashboards/Pivot Tables.

The job allows me to demonstrate my own initiative and leadership skills, as I was assigned with the role of training in two new Interns in Germany over Skype after only a few months in my role which required presentation etc. I have also developed more confidence in team meetings since starting to work here as we have weekly team meeting updates and Lync meetings also.

Connemara Coast 4* Hotel – Waiter/Porter –June 2013 - August 2014

During period in the Connemara Coast Hotel I deployed a great attitude and willingness to work hard. I was tasked with other positions besides waiting tables such as greeting new guest, luggage porter and any other general query guests had throughout the day or night when I was working. I enjoyed the position greatly as we dealt with Customers from all over the world. The aim was always to ensure the customers were well taken care of and satisfied at all times. Working in the Hotel had different challenges each day which I feel help develop my communication and communication with customers greatly.

Ahoy Story Navy Pier May 2012- September 2012 Chicago

As an American citizen I decided to go to Chicago for the summer in 2011 and 2012 which proved to be an excellent decision. Working with the Ahoy store I gained responsibility in a short time span through a hard work ethic. I learned great Customer Service skills in the store from the employees as Customer Service is key to business during the summer for tourists in Chicago. I also assisted in some Marketing promotions with t-shirt deals and reduction in prices and stock analysis to see which products were selling better than other. We used Microsoft Excel to take account of stock analysis and daily and weekly sales targets

Joyces Galway – Sales Assistant/Butcher August 2011 – May 2012

During my two periods with Debenhams I developed strong interpersonal skills dealing with customer needs and complaints and trying to help as much as possible over two very busy periods. The key was to always try and make the customer happier leaving the store than before they came in which helped show my strong initiative.

Also worked in Zenimax Call Centre for 5 weeks dealing with Customer Calls and Emails during a game launch.
